So I have a 2017 ram 2500 and the TPMS just came on and the left rear tire is highlighted red but it has more pressure than any other tire. My tires never had 80 psi and the light was never on before. What I am really wanting to know is why is the left rear tire highlighted in red??

It might have fell under a threshold at one point and you need to re-inflate back to 80 to get it to settle down. Mine did that last cold snap, even when it went over the psi of another tire that didnt fall as far it still left the light on till i inflated.

Yep needs to be inflated to 80 then driven until the light goes out, then you can lower the pressure back down. Best thing to do is look into either renting an autel to reprogram or taking a peek at the alfaOBD thread and using that to lower the threshold to a reasonable number

I have been struggling with this FBS government, insurance company State mandated TPMS feature. Now FCA has blocked the dealer from adjusting the system to a lower setting. But as Red stated resetting the system requires fronts to be 60 and rears 80 PER THE SYSTEM DISPLAY, not our tire gauge. Then driven for about 25 miles. You can then lower rear to 70 for better ride and wear. One of the things I have learned is that the sensors are Chinese ****. Horribly inaccurate. This is why the tires are at 90lb from the factory.

if you can get the pin, Im pretty sure the Alfa will allow tire pressure threshold changes, I know I could with the AE tool as well.

Yes, the AlfaOBD, along with an OpenLink MX or MX+ Bluetooth, will allow you to reset the TPMS THRESHOLD (set point). AlfaOBD needs an Android device to run on. You need the 4 digit PIN (same one for making new key FOBs). The red lights come on when the pressure drops to 20% below the THRESHOLD. As someone said, you have to air the tires up to the Threshold level to get the lights to go off.

The dealer will most likely want to charge for the PIN. $30 is typical. I found a local dealer that sold it to me for $20.

There is an app that you can get the pin for $15 if you can’t find a friendly dealer
