The Tire pressure monitoring system TPMS sensor is not working on my front passenger side on my 2019 RAM Rebel 4x4 and the dashboard is telling me that is disconnected after some minutes because is not receiving signal from that tire.
Can I take the truck to any tire shop to get a new sensor ?, or it have to be done at the dealership. Can I fix just the tire not working ?, or I have to change all tires sensors. Can I use any aftermarket sensor ?

You can get the sensor replaced at almost any local tire shop. If they use an OEM one then there's no re-learn procedure needed.

In the past when one has gone down on my trucks I've just replaced all of them since they sort of have a shelf life and when one is done, the others aren't that far behind.

A lot of time , the tire shop can reactivate them, I have never had to change any , but sometimes when switching winter/ summer tires, he will have to reprogram one or 2 with his little scanner. odd time it will also just fix it's self after driving a few miles.

I would rotate another tire to that position first, too see if it is really the tire sensor. I had an intermittent same issue and it ended up not being the tire sensor.

Just over the last week the sensor on my left front tire loses connection and triggers error message, but after a short period reconnects and turns off warning light. Any DIY I can do?? Since it is an intermittent issue I hate to get dealer involved.

You can DIY. There are some vids on YT showing some ways to break the bead so you can get at the sensor. Just be careful not to rotate the tire on the rim when deflated, and your balance will stay the same.

Some sensors, you can replace the battery, some you can't.

The average battery life of a TPMS is 7 years from all I have read !
I had same issue on my 2015 RAM last year !
I changed all 4 from a local shop !

I had thought about it may be battery, but since it reestablishes connection and reads fine for hours was also thinking it may just be a communication issue. Example, I drove from Ohio to home last Monday (about 8 hours) and left front sensor lost connection in first 10 miles, but connects again within 10 miles and stays connected for the rest of trip.

Just an update on my sensor. Went in to dealer for oil change since they have express lane so no appointment needed. Asked the service manager if he could check the sensor while I had it in. It did have a bad sensor so had them replace it. All good now. My 14 1500 still has original sensors and it currently has 176,000 miles.

The invoice doesn't show a part number but I imagine they did use OEM part. They also conducted a "multi-Point Inspection" at no additional cost which included record of current tire tread depth and more importantly mm measurement of each brake pad.

That detail of customer service does give me some confidence of trust in them. Time will tell.

It is NOT the RF hub. If it was, none would read. If you installed non Mopar sensors, it is very likely the new sensor is kacked. Even with OEM it is likely the sensor. Take it back to whoever installed them and make them fix the problem. That is what you paid them for originally.

Ya, it was Discount Tire, but it just anoying as it was like this BEFORE the replacment as well. infact we have seen them all go out at one time but all came back and it only did that once, its just consistently the front left. which to me if they put new tires on and replaced the senors. the likely hook of that same rim/tire being in that spot is very minimal.

Meanwhile it picks up my trailers TPMS just fine...LOL

I understand these things work on a system similar to “bluetooth”… communicating with on-board sensors and each powered by an internal TPMS battery.
I”ve had Discount Tire simply “wake it up” by peforming a scan with their tool.
I’t also possible your vehicle’s sensor-receiver may have failed at that wheel well.
A 2019 vehicle being only about 5 yrs old may be slightly-early for it’s intenral battery to fail….but not unheard of. You might be well-off to replace them all.
Most tire stores will do this and allow you to choose which price-level TPMS you wish to purchase.
