Hey guys just wanted to share my little mod. I have a tekonsha prodigy p3 brake controller and had it mounted to the kick plate under the steering wheel. Well I got tired of kicking it with my shin every time my wife moved my seat way up to drive my truck so I decided to move it out of the way. First I took off the plate right above the parking brake where the stock trailer brake controller was placed on the 2009-2012 rams.
On the 2013 with the 6 speed there is nothing behind this panel so I decided that it's the perfect place to install it.
First I removed the panel and eye balled where I would need to cut in order to install the controller. Then I traced out the size of the brake controller on the backside of the panel.
I cut the panel just using a razor knife. Tip- if u take heat gun to the plastic for a couple seconds and heat up the plastic, u can cut through it like butter with the knife and get a very clean cut.
Then I did some test fitting and cleaned up my cuts. To fill the gaps around the controller I used some rubber moulding. Cut it to side and put it around the cut to keep it in place and keep it from rattling around.
Here is the final product. Took me all of 20 minutes and it's totally out of the way now
