Your 2 options. Plug the trailer back in or shut the truck off.

That is annoying. Sometimes I am dropping a trailer and then going somplace. Especially when it is recommended to allow the truck to run for a few minutes to cool down the turbos after a heavy pull.

There's a third option you forgot, put a piece of electrical tape over it...LOL

I've drove many miles with the trailer disconnect icon lit up on the dash, so it doesn't hurt anything.

I bet you could take two 6 ohm 50 watt resistors wired in parallel into a 7 pin plug between the trailer brake and ground pins would work to make the controller think a "trailer is connected"

apparently it's some kind of safety warning to alert you that your trailer plug may have come out when driving so you wont lose trailer brakes and signals without some kind of indication on the dash.

it is annoying, but it does serve a purpose.
As Crash said, a quick off and restart solves the problem, but after seeing it on my truck about 150 times it becomes less of an issue. At least they didnt hook up some kind of annoying ding/chime to it, I guess we can be grateful about that.
