I guess you are not doing it yourself. I don't see how anyone is going to do it for 300 bucks. Are you prepared to check the fluid level after they change it? North of 800 usually, lots of expensive fluid and cost of pan, so 1k or 1.2k not out of line.

Run away from any shop quoting you under $800. Your 3.6 is easy to change the fluid on,why not do it yourself.Lots of threads on here on how to change the pan /filter and fluid, and probably save yourself several hundred dollars, and you'll know it's been done properly

Can be in and out in a couple hours, with time for a beer or two while things drip.

Drop the pan, replace pan/filter (PPE or OEM), fill with Maxlife or OEM fluid with the vehicle level (make Wild One cringe) and you're golden.

Trans needs to be level, not the vehicle

Thank you.
If you haven't seen this sheet, these are the ZF instructions that come with a "brand new" truck specific 8 speed when bought from the dealer. The first highlighted paragraph is very important as you can tell by the way it's highlighted. Also the ideal checking temp is between 100F and 105F,the 122 is the max checking temp, not the ideal checking temp.

My dealer wanted $900 for a pan drop.

I did it myself on a couple of my trucks. As Wild One posted above the trans needs to be level. This is to ensure it is filled to the proper level. The refill process is lengthy and temperature dependent.
