Hi everyone,

I put a valve body gasket plate in my 2013 RAM with the 65RFE and ever since then the 4C CVI keeps learning to 0 and my 2C CVI keeps learning to 90.

I have a hunch it’s the gasket plate causing it, thoughts? Would it be safe to remove?

You didnt rebuild pistons? I would try a hard reset, unplug battery overnight. If you are gonna have to drop it after that doesnt work, I would consider rebuilding pistons, accumulator piston for sure, but do an entire rebuild and reflash it. You put the gasket on for a reason, but for you to succeed in your goal you might have to follow through.

If all you did was put a gasket, and it is doing a relearn, that hints that thing was leaking good. how many miles on it since you put the gasket? How is it driving?

It’s been around 1500-2000 miles since i put in the gasket.

It’s driving pretty awful, it slams into 2nd gear, and barely attempts a shift into 4th. 4-5 is fine and 5-6 has a mild bump to it.

I forgot to mention, but i’ve done SEVERAL relearns using AlfaOBD, disconnecting battery terminals, and EVERY time 2C learns to some astronomically high number and 4C will learn to 0.

One thing though, right after a relearn it’ll shift/preform PERFECTLY until around 300 miles when it learns these obviously wrong values.

Forgot to mention, it’s also flaring the shift into 4th, which is why i stopped driving it.

Before i did the gasket plate, the CVIs were normal, 2C was in the 30s-40s and 4C was 33 and hovered around there.

I dropped a bottle of lucas trans fix in it to give the clutches SOME help, hopefully that’ll work. I have to get the pan off and look at it more in depth.

Fluid level is still right where it needs to be and the hottest the trans has gotten is 120.

You mind explaining the relearn process with alpha? Getting ready to upgrade some things on my VB and this part makes me nervous. Especially after reading this story. Did you upgrade anything else in regards to transmission? As @Burla stated pistons, metal thread for oil filter, transgo relearn kit or maybe even a deep pan?
