A buddy was helping me use an air pump to pump the new fluid back into the trans. We were on the 4th jug, he hooked the air up and started to pump, then noticed a little something different. Luckily none of it made it into the pan. I ordered the 6 pack off amazon…one of these things ain’t like the other

Im pretty disappointed by the lack of disaster honestly... :roflsquared:
Come on, motor oil in your tranny would be at least a full on hurricane level disaster

Back in the old days when changing oil, we used to add a pint of transmission fluid with the oil to keep the engine clean. Amazon's just helping you make your transmission look lived in.
Used to pour tranny in the carbs to clean them, Great Mosquito Preventer Cloud, chase them away.

Is that the right fluid? Do you have the ZF 8 speed?

Yes and yes

I was not familiar with the quart bottles of MaxLife, only the gallon style. If you are out of warranty that should be fine but to keep the warranty intact people should use the Mopar 8/9 speed fluid. Not cost effective, unfortunately.

only on ram forum will you ever see someone changing 8 speed oil before total failure lol
Chrysler says lifetime oil, no changing. regular warranty finishes at 60k miles.
more than half of dealers and garages have no clue how to fill a 8hp70
do the math however you want but other than "enthusiasts " like us aint no one preventative maintenancing the zf 8hp70
at the current price difference i will be running maxlife for years, unless they change formulation
man im backing myself into a corner now gonna have to start stockpiling :roflsquared:

I've used MaxLife in a 4Runner with no issues even though the 4R forum bros were shouting from the rooftops that I had to use Toyota's World fluid that was costly. Same with using a 50k mile coolant instead of 100k mile. Not many people these days are fooling with transmission fluid or coolant. Buying a used vehicle is scary. You're lucky if you get oil change receipts. I bought a used Porsche 2 years ago that only had about half of the oil changes documented. WTF?

My friend actually had the dealer change his ZF fluid in his 2015 Ram only to trade it in shortly after. $800 service (2019 timeframe) and he had the lifetime warranty. Doh.

Found this same issue many times when buying multiples from amazon. Quit them. Haven't been back since.
Return policy means nothing when machine is out-of-service waiting for them to fix their screw-up
