I have an '01 with the 5.9 gas engine, automatic. Lately when I put it in "N", I hear like a bit of a whining sound, hear it a bit in Reverse as well. Drive, 1 or 2 nothing...I hear this when idling....any thoughts?

My thoughts. Sounds like a bushing, or bearing in the trans is letting go, or the transmission pump itself is giving you a heads up.

No time like the present for a rebuilt or an aftermarket transmission. Just remember, buy once, cry once. That super sweet deal on that 1200.00 46RE will probably end up costing you triple after you have had it replaced 4 or 5 times.
