As the weather gets colder, I'm finding a couple of things that concern me.

Twice, I start the truck in sub thirty degrees weather and let it run long enough to come off the fast idle.

I shift into drive, pull on to the side street and the darn thing stays in first gear and won't up shift. I do stop, ŝwitch into neutral and back to drive and all is well.

Then I have a weird metal on metal vibration sound for about four miles and then it quits.

Is it getting ready to self destruct? Should I be looking at a new ford??? Haha

yep i remember something about that from the manual too.

if i remember right the part that said it could limit the gears to 1st or 2nd was extreme lows like -30C so i kinda doubt that's the case here. the lowest i've seen so far is -15C with the trans temp at about -7C and only thing i noticed was overdrive being locked out

You got 5 years 100k warranty. So you should be ok. If it keeps doing it take it in to the dealer. Let it set there at night so they try it in the morning when it's cold.

The TC doesn't lock up until the tranny temp reaches 80 degrees, but the tranny should still be shifting when cold. It will hold gears a little longer during warm up, but if its really not shifting up at all take it to the dealer. The metal on metal sound you are hearing would have me very concerned.
