Hey guys, New to the forum I have a 2021 ram warlock 5.7 L HP transmission pretty sure I’m the fifth GEN not sure? Anyways went on a 350 mile trip up into Vermont from Massachusetts in on the way back on the way up noticed that it was struggling to shift out a lower gear is going uphill on the highway in about 7580 sometimes 85 to 90 on the way home my dashboard went out the speedometer of the electronic pot. It went blank in the truck downshifted itself into I don’t know we’ll say fourth gear. It started high Reven and it was on flat surface. It started high revenue at about 77 mph on fourth gear. I just had a let off the gas slow way down and then eventually just keep hitting the gear up button on the steering wheel and eventually just went right back into eighth gear and cruise along. It was fine. Did that twice on the way home? Any suggestions? Any ideas what was going on? I’m at a loss.

When it was struggling uphill, was it going up a steep grade? Trans possibly a little low on fluid?

I'd be interested to see if there's any codes in the system.

The electronics going dark does sound electrical, though, and 1 loose ground can give you fits.

Best of luck to a simple and easy find and fix, please post what you find out.

Have you driven in heavy rain lately or through any type of large puddles after a rain?

I would inspect the electrical connectors in the engine compartment and on the trans for water intrusion and corrosion. I would also check the positive and negative battery cables as well as the PCM connectors. Make sure you disconnect the battery before unplugging the PCM and any connectors.

Also, I sort the engine and chassis grounds and the grounds on the inner fenders.

So I apologize for the way my original comment was written I did voice texting as I drove into work ! With that being said, it was only the center of the display where the speedometer shows in digital image along with other various controls tire sensors and **** like that. When it happened the speedometer went blank but the rpm was still functioning and the regular speedometer was still working correctly I made this same trip 3 weeks ago in a ice and snow storm with absolutely no issues whatsoever! But I’m going to go through my grounds as fast69mopar suggested and see what I find as for codes well 2nd time it happened I was looking never got a check engine light after the first time I decided to keep my eye on the transmission temp and it stayed between 186/195 range I’ve owned the truck for about a 14 months now and I love it, I did an oil change before we had left it has 34500 miles on it and I try to baby her I will follow up here when I get some information as to what’s happening, again no codes thrown I was hoping for a Hail Mary here and someone would see this and say yes I know exactly what happened, but we’re not always that lucky thanks again to the guys that replied
