Hi, I have a 2005 Ram 2500 2WD with a Cummins and 136k miles. I noticed that after driving at highway speeds for more than ten minutes my transmission starts acting up. After exiting the freeway and coming to a stop, acceleration from standstill is slow and difficult and requires excessive RPM. This only happens after a period of high speed driving, not regular stop-and-go. When I’m in the city, stoplight after stoplight, there are no issues. Any thoughts and feedback on this are appreciated!

Do you have any sort of scan tool you could plug in and watch temp? Maybe it's not cooling the way it should, just a guess though

The 48 RFE auto trans should be serviced with new filter & bands adjusted every 60K, if OP has not done so it could be why he is having problems....
