Hi , near to this forum. I owned a 2014 eco-diesel new until this February when it blew up. I bought a new 1500 Classic with the Hemi. I like the hemi however I find the transmission searches for the right gear a lot more than my old truck did. The new truck has a 392 rear. Its more noticeable in city driving. Is this a normal thing now? Thanks

It’s got 8 gears to choose from. Why people complain about this is beyond me.

It’s doing exactly what it should.

It's not a problem with the transmission but difference in the two engines torque curves. The Hemi max torque is 410 ft/lbs at 4K rpms, the EcoDiesel is 420 ft/lbs at 2K rpms. With the EcoD most of your driving was right at the torque band of the engine, it didn't need to downshift as much to meet to torque demand.

Burlap, I believe Classics come with 8sp.

Not nessarily so in Canada, there's still some of the lower trim level Classics getting the 6 speed up here.Canada is FCA/Stellentis's dumping ground for old left over stock, but they are starting to run out of 6 speed stock to dump on us,so the majority of 21 Classics are starting to show up with the 8 speed now.
