Thanks to everyone in advance! I’m looking for a little guidance with my 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 with 49K miles. Recently it’s developed a shudder under light acceleration under low rpms. Cruising around 35-55 mph, then with slight acceleration, not enough for it to shift, it will start to shudder. If I let off the gas or give it more (enough for it to shift) it stops. I noticed tonight, if I use the ERS (+ or - gear selection on the steering column) it will stop when engaged and won’t shudder at all if I leave it engaged. Now am not using the ERS to shift. Simply pushing the -, then the + setting it at 8. Has anyone ever had this problem before? Or any suggestions? Of course my warranty ran out 6 months ago. I also changed my oil right before this started. Maybe I knocked something loose?

My 2014 2500 6.4l 6spd does the same thing once in awhile, and I know another guy with a diesel dually that does it also. If I remember to put it in tow haul mode it always seems to be good.

That sounds more like an issue with mds activating.

Out of curiousity what oil and filter did you use when you changed oil.Like Red stated,it sounds more like you're feeling the MDS then anything. Also did your outdoor temps take a big drop recently, that can sometimes affect the mds by keeping your oil temps down, which makes the oil a bit thicker.

I used Amsoil XL series 5W-20 with a WIX oil filter. It is the first time I’ve used Amsoil in the truck. It’s been cold here in VA but nothing sudden or out of the ordinary. Besides getting worse, I do believe it started right after the oil change. Related?

So update. The dealer told me they wanted to unbolt the engine and exhaust, start the truck, turn it off, then re-torque the bolts. Call me foolish but I don’t think that’s going to fix the problem.

My guess is that the dealership thinks the torque converter is causing the shudder and they want to remove the bolts from the converter and start the engine to see if it goes away. Then, put the bolts back in the converter in a different location and torque the fasteners.
