Hey everyone, need some help with my 2002 4.7l 1500. Lately I have been noticing that the shifting has changed. I mostly notice that going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear it takes a longer time for it to finally shift. Also today I ntoiced a couple times going from first to second it really kicked into gear, which it never has done that. Truck has 112k on it, since I have own it at 70k I never did or got a transmission fluid change (I know flip on me!). Could this be the issue of no fluid change? Any other inputs? I'm hoping this baby lasts as I am looking at lifting it soon lol.

Do you have a tune or any mods that would affect the tranny shift pattern?

If not it might not hurt to get the fluid change, however if the tranny is misbehaving the damage could already been done and you may have to consider an overhaul.

Best place to get a diagnostic would be to find a trusted transmission specialist in your area.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

I do have a superchip but only put the tune to the 87 octane tune and that was like a year ago or more since then.

Yea I have this one transmission shop I like that I was thinking about giving him a call to have him check it out.

Going to my transmission guy next week, he said it might be valve body as he has seen before that causing the issue, but he said for sure get fluid and filters change and while they drop pain he is going check everything out and hopefully it is just something minor! I'll report back!

Well just came back from my guy today who did the transmission fluid and filters change for me. Mod course the truck did not act up at all today, go figure. He ran his scanner to see if any codes would come up and nothing did so he then took truck back and dropped pan and had a look. He said when he dropped the pan everything looked great. He wasn't able to find anything wrong. So he changed filters and fluid and off I went. Driving it home felt better, don't know if that's because of the the filter and fluid change, and also it didn't act up. So I just gotta keep my eye on it and if anything happens give my guy a ring and have him take it apart (cross fingers for this to not happen)
