I have a 2029 Ram Bighorn Hemi 5.7
I let it idle for an hour to keep my dog cool in the cab while i loaded up the bed with supplies. When I drove away it started to make a loud droning sound in the transmission, almost like a plane was right over my head. I drove it 10 mile home and the sound got less but didn't disappear. I drove it the next day and 5 more days since and it runs quiet as new. Anyone ever heard of this? The droning noise was almost deafening, that's why I said it was like a plane was flying 25 feet overhead. Not sure how else to describe this crazy issue.

Thoughts??

Are you sure it was not your a/c compressor was your a/c on? Mine hums a bit I would however scan it for trans codes to rule it out.

this was a loud drone. An air compressor couldn't create such a noise without a microphone pointed at plugged into an amp. At first, I thought it was another vehicle passing me by. This is the craziest post I have ever entered on any site. It reads crazy, I know. And I've been turning wrenches for over 50 years.

The more I sit with your idea, the more it makes sense. I never heard such a loud noise from a vehicle. I suppose it could vibrate so much that it would echo like that. I'll put a dongle on it today and see if there is a code waiting for me. Thanks for your input. I shouldn't be stuck in a box like I have myself in. LOL
