Yea, you read that right. A ford expedition pulled me out of 2 feet of snow. We were checking out properties over the weekend and I pulled into the approach and greatly underestimated the amount of snow. Needless to say the only thing the truck was doing was spinning wheels. PROBLEM I ran into was I through it in 4lo 4 way lock. Reversed it and my truck stalled..... thats a new one. Anyone experience this. I was able to restart it but what the hell did I do wrong. That would of killed the engine like that.

What tires do you have on it? Auto 4x4 or part-time? Open diff or anti-spin?

PW's are very capable, from what I hear. Must have been a very slick spot...some sort of engine protection to stall the engine (?)

2 feet of snow blocks the tail pipe. The engine is going to stall. Banana Up the Tailpipe.

In the Vehicle Recovery section I too posted that I was pulled out of a snow filled ditch by a Ford last month. Since then I've pulled out a Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and a Jeep 4x4 to make up for it.

If I remember correctly, because I've done that a few times, it throws you in park but doesn't kill the engine.

Yea, I was able to restart it almost instantly. I was just shocked when it stalled. I've only have had the need to throw it in 4lo only a handful of times. Curious if it was something I did.

Ive actually had this happen to my ‘16 before. Only has happened to me the one time. There was snow involved, and high speed tire spinning, and a quick stop...possibly during a shift...honestly dont remember everything, just that the truck stalled and started right back up afterward.

You could have lied and told us you had to shovel it out by hand , and how it took four hours but you finally got it out and then....

Mine stalled about 7-8 times.

2 hi, 4 hi, 4 low but always in reverse with a load ( trailer, ruff terrain etc).

It also throws the truck in park if it doesn't stall.

I learned to control the gas/engine so it doesn't tug too much.

It must be some kind of nanny...
BTW, it's dangerous when it stalls with incoming traffic while backing a trailer.

I agree. We would have been better off not knowing the truth. [emoji19][emoji19][emoji19]

I got stuck on my property in pa last week. About 1.5-2 feet of snow and ice under it. Truck ended up with the tail in the drainage on the side of my driveway. Had to anchor myself to our 05 GMC Yukon XL 2500 to get myself out.
