I read that these don't last long and the insert piece strips out? How has everyone's luck been with this kit? For $25 it seems like a great add!

No issues yet. I'd assume the shock itself would blow first before the nutcert came out.

I installed mine the other night (in mostly dark conditions) in about 6 minutes. And it was only about 35 degrees; I was worried that it might make the shock operate poorly, but it worked great. Hardest part was putting the spacer piece on the cable!

The assist works GREAT on this truck (as it did on my '13). But I had one on my F150, and the shock just never seemed to work: I had to push down on the tailgate to open the Ford. I guess the Ram tailgate is a lot heavier!

Installed the DeeZee unit the first week of ownership of my 2014 3500, almost 5 years.

The new 2500 Laramie Longhorn also has the same unit installed.

I found on the '14 I needed to locktite the stud into the nut insert, almost five years and it was still working as designed.

I also added the MasterLock tailgate lock at the same time. I know some people use a hose clamp to secure the tailgate.

Same here. Had mine about a year with no issues. I think they had an issue with nut-sert a few yrs ago but have since resolved it.

Had mine for about 2 weeks b4 the ball the shock hooks to busted off. Now the nursert is crooked in my tailgate and I can’t get it out. Deezee sent me replacement parts so happy with their customer service!!

Use the tip from DeeZee
Put a drop of lock tight on the nut zert end .. let it set.... then mark the nut .. hold zert... and hold bolt w Allen key ... 9 full rotations on the nut... connect the shock n you good.

I fought w another one years back.

Refused to read directions...
