Ok so my questions is what tires would be better in a tug of war situation M/T tires or A/T tires in compacted hard dirt. My buddy called me out for a tug of war after I beat him in a race.. are trucks are not equal equipped. ( His truck is 2011 ram 1500 HEMI 5 speed crew cab 3.55 gears 6" lift 35 m/t tires sct tune on 93 ) ( my truck 2012 ram 1500 4.7 6 speed quad cab 3.55 gears no lift 33" A/T tires diablo 93 tune) from 40 mph roll race my 4.7 walks away from his truck thinking weight and extra gears in trans is the factor. From a dig he gets me off the line but I track him down and pass him. So now he wants to tug of war

It ain't a true tug without both trucks in reverse.
Think about how people do it.

Pulling in dirt is not as hard on trucks as pulling on asphalt.. pulling in dirt is the same as using your truck to pull out a tree stump out or a large boat out of the boat ramp or a stuck vehicle. as long as there is room for slippage it's not that hard on the trucks.. I have truck tug of war a hand full of times only in dirt and snow have have not broke anything.. people who pull on asphalt on the other hand with high grip do brake things.. slippage is the key on not breaking things

Trucks pulling stumps, stuck vehicles, or tug-of-war. My son and I watch these videos on "World's Dumbest" every Saturday morning.

Make sure your connecting cable/strap/rope is very strong and get ready to duck if it breaks.

Sadly all it did was pull the stump out, no explosions or trips to the hospital :D

I have done this many times. Never broke anything. If you start bouncing get off the gas.

Unfortunately with his truck being so much higher then yours it will be hard to get a fair tug. He is going to be pulling up on your hitch as you are pulling down on his. This will be taking your traction away and giving him more.

But have your fun. Use a tow strap , be safe about it.
