So I grabbed a TRX console this week. Seeing how it is an electronic shifter and the 4th gen 1500s are also electronic shifters- I want to see about getting it to work. I also have an entire 2023 dash including the UC5 radio that I will hopefully get into my truck. Has anyone attempted to convert the shifters? Clearly, the plugs will be different and in different locations, but making an extension/conversion harness should be pretty basic.

I've spent a lot of time reviewing. The trx uses a 8hp90 , vs our 8 speed trucks use the 8hp70, so will be some difference.

The ram gt comes with the same shifter and it uses 8hp70, so I would look at that wiring.

Keep us informed

Correct but the transmission doesn't care about the shifter. The shifter is simply telling the computer what to do. The computer is still controlling the transmission. I'm just wondering if the functions will translate over.

I don't think the GT package was available on the Gen4 (DS) body trucks. The Gen5 trucks use the 8HP75 transmission. There maybe CANbus communication issues between the two generations vehicles
There are Jeep GC that have console shifters and use the 8HP70 transmission.

Haven't seen anybody use the TRX shifter yet,but the Charger / Challenger and Jeep 8HP70 console shifters are fairly common.I can't see why it couldn't be used though

I am also curious if this will work,I would like to do that too, let me know if you get it to work, just thinking you would need to make a harness from one plug to the other, and use a 2009-2012 console maybe.

I've been doing a lot of searching and see that any threads on this have fizzled out with no follow-up. I pickled up a TRX console yesterday and
I have talked to another forum member in regards to the physical fitment of a 5th gen floor console into a 4th. That part I'm not concerned with, I'm 98% there. being that I had previously updated my 2015 8.4 uconnect to a 2021 and purchased an adapter harness from @Mpgrimm2 allowing functionality of a jeep patriot or compass media port, I was able to pop one of the ram ones out and test that. works well, media wise as well as usb-a and usb-c charging wise.

I have also compared the 2016 challenger shifter that seems to have been used more than once and basic PRNDL function seems to work, just lack of the manual mode. worse comes to worse, I'll mount a challenger shifter and use the trx handle/boot.

I have the 2019+ infotainment adapter harness to allow jump seat to console conversion to run from the trx console up under the dash but will have to do some modifications to that to reroute to my dial shifter harness and to under the drivers seat. that's where it seems most of the power and rear heated seat controls are sourcing control from on my 4th gen longhorn. unlike the 5th gens console, everything comes in the front of it through one large connector.

anyone have access to a 2022 trx console wiring schematic and pin layout for the plug? it's going to be fun with the mass of all white wires infotainment used on this harness LOL

I've now been able to source the pin layouts for the trx console harness from https://connectorrepairkit.mopar.com/ still having issues finding the pin layouts on my OE 4th gen floor console harness. if anyone is able to help that would be greatly appreciated. I have know idea what they are calling the connectors at each end of the harness.
this is the one I'm trying to nail down. I believe a member here @Jimmy07 was able to assist the member of a cummins forum, not sure if he's still frequenting these forums.
