Ok so I put the new 87mm throttle body on. I can a little in the throttle. The only problem I'm having is when I make a hit on it 1 to 2 it pulls go. When it shifts into 2 the wideband stays good till about 4500 then goes to 10.3 and stays there. I have talked to Sean about this and he tell me it's a heat problem which is causing it to dump fuel. Doesn't make since to me. Can someone plz give there input on this.

My truck does the same thing. Runs rich( AF 10-11) at WOT after shifting into second gear. This is on both an 89 and 91 octane HF tune. I tried about 10 runs with pulling fuel with the adjustable settings but still rich. Anyone have an idea??

im in the same boat but with the 93 tune - looking at my logs mine seems to start dropping at around 5400 rpm in 2nd from 12.xx to 10.xx - almost as if its prepping for the huge loading the engine takes shifting into "4th". My rpms will go from 6k (2nd) down to 3700 (4th).

In a nutshell the richness is a protection method from the pcm to cool off the catalytic converters. Its only engaged when exhaust temps get hot. The lower the octane, the more chance this occurs. usually higher octanes have less heat production. Some WOT runs may be fine, some may engage it. Just depends on the cat temps. It can usually be deleted out but that can cause premature damage to the cats.

im gonna log my 93 tune again when I get a chance - looks like the log I was looking at was with 91. My 93 tune does have the rear o2s sensors deleted.

That makes sense because even when I pulled WOT fuel it still ran rich. I was running 93 octane (winter Fuel ) with both tunes. Seems like it would pull harder if it was less rich??

I just got my hemifever tune from Sean. Running the 93 tune. The truck hates driving slow now. I still have to log some stuff and send it back to Sean for a final tweak. Can't wait.

Im not concerned about burning out the cats. If it will pull harder at a 12.5 AFR then I will send you my tunes to stop it from dumping the fuel.

I have the 87mm TB coming in soon, and will be ordering the Diablo with HF tuning in the next week or so. I am new to the tuning world, and I'm not a very mechanically inclined individual, so all of this discussion sounds like the teacher in Charlie Brown to me haha. Could someone explain what your issues are in a "Mechanics for Dummies" version?

Edit: I want to make sure I understand the problem so when I get everything set I can determine if I'm having the same issue or not.

Its not really a problem. The ECU is dumping fuel at Wide Open Throttle when the cats are hot to cool them so they dont get damaged. Its doing what it should. But from what I have read a Air/Fuel Ratio of 12.5 is ideal for these trucks at WOT. Since Im moving back to Florida and they dont have inspection, Im not concerned about frying my cats off, if the truck will pull stronger.

And you dont have to wait to get a tune. If you get a new mod just send a data log back and Sean will see if the tune needs to be tweeked.

That being said the truck runs great with a HF tune. Sean took care of all the soft/slow shifting, as well as, stopping the constant search for the right gear. The truck will smoke tires at will and even chirp second gear. Even if you dont want to race the truck, a HF tune will also help with towing. My best mod by far.

Okay, so then what exactly are you feeling while riding in the truck when this is going on? Like when you're running WOT, and you're about to shift into 2nd, what does the truck do that sends up the flag that fuel is being dumped?

So Sean was dead on with it. We turned the rear o2 sensors off and she runs 11.8 right as I shifts. Still got the headers to put on so after it should be dead on I hope

You cant notice a thing. I only noticed from spending hours studying the data logs. Probably does it stock too but i have never logged the stock tune.

Good to know. I will definitely have to review my logs when I get the tuner and see what I notice.

Yeah this tuner does a lot. I have been making adjustments for 6 months and the truck runs great, but I always want a little more. Next I will figure out how to data log directly to my laptop.

I just got an updated tune from Sean, so I will load that tomorrow and fully dial in the best A/F ratio.

Im not sure. I asked him to adjust the tune so it doesnt dump fuel to cool the cats and he sent back the new tune in 10 minutes. Maybe turned off the rear O2 sensors. Not sure though.
