I installed the UBD in a 2016 Ram 1500 Laramie (5.7 V8). Came up nice, have most functions and is a nicer look. Best part is instant Apple CarPlay when you enter the vehicle. Obviously, as a UBD, there is no built in NAV, but I have it through Apple CarPlay. I have updated the SiriusXM and it works well. You can also get SiriusXM as an app in CarPlay, if you don't want the subscription on the radio. Some weird glitches are the auto darkness and lighting of the screen. It allows a manual adjust for brightness but under Auto it does not. USB hub not working when you plug in phone. Supposedly infotainment is working on the fix. All climate controls seems to be working. Weird reaction when you attempt to play the music on your iPhone via bluetooth. It sounds distant. With Apple CarPlay, it's loud and clear. Overall 90% satisfied so far. Still getting adjusted to it and waiting for updates. Still not sure if I'm going to keep it. I have 30 days. I miss the ability to have Sirius XM and the nav map imbedded. Not possible with a UBD, since it has no nav. Also missing the TravelLink app and other connect apps.

I’m considering this upgrade as my 2018 UCQ failed in my Canadian 2017 Ram Sport dual/auto HVAC so I already have the updated USB hub and USB harness. I have the 68494521AF version 8.4 Uconnect 5 “Rilow” out of a Canadian 2023 Classic Tradesman but wondering if all the kinks have been ironed out. I also need adapter cables or truck side connectors

I received the upgraded GENIE module from infotainment. I now see a USB icon in the "media" menu, but it is greyed out. When I connect an iPod or iPhone to it, I am unable to play music through it.

We've been working to work out the hurdles of putting a UBD in an older vehicle. We have made a device that has to translate the message the radio gets as older vehicles send different signals from and to the radio that the newer radio doesn't understand or simply was never programmed to work that way from Uconnect. Our Genie Max module has about 98% of the issues worked out. There are some vehicles configurations that need some slight changes. If you get the UBD from us you'll get the Genie Max. Feel free to reach out to our advisor team to find out more.
