I purchased a used uconnect 8.4 vp4 and I have the alfaobd software, I have the oem tailgate camera, I have enabled all the camera features but get a blue screen saying camera system unavailable. Could someone point me in the right direction to get this working. The unit came out of a 2016 ram 1500, I have installed it in a 2015 ram 2500.

Thanks
Tony

quite a bit of reading - but this thread may help. did the truck come with the camera or did you add it? If you added it - did you check if you had all of the wiring? My 2014 did not have it, fortunately, a member on here, @Mpgrimm2 makes the harness if needed.

What radio did u have originally? (ie Ra2 5.0" with BT handsfree calling?)

Did your truck come from the factory with a BuCam? & If so, where did it display originally? (Radio or mirror?)

** If you get the blue screen in reverse, the radio is looking for the camera video feed but not getting it.

The truck came with the VP1, I had an aftermarket radio and aftermarket tailgate camera, I installed the uconnect 8.4 vp4 and updated bezel I added an oem tailgate camera, I also installed the rearview mirror with microphone and harness. I purchased your harness kit to convert this from you, I checked the radio harness and it had the 3 wires in pin 31,32,33 which I believe is for the camera input

There are also two connectors I recommend checking for the wiring, there is a connector by the brake pedal, could be one of two, an I315 or an INline-Body/IP connector. Also, behind the left front wheel well, there is a C322 connector. Make sure those are populated with the wiring. The thread I posted above has pics somewhere in there. As I mentioned, my 3500 did not have the wiring from the C322 connector behind the wheel well back to the tailgate, but I did have the wiring under the dash to the radio.

And yes, you will need to get the sales code added. You can actually do it yourself with software called AlfaOBD and a ODB link, for probably less then the dealer charges, but that's a whole new can of worms, but definitely worth it if you are going to be doing anything else. If you thought the other thread was long, you haven't seen anything yet...

If you can, send me a private message with your email/Name/details or just reply back to your original shipping email so I can look over what you've got vs what you're trying to do? I'm pretty good at getting back to people with issues if I know about it (I'm not finding anything off hand).

Tony,
I think I found your info/order....

You have the RCA Video Pigtail which you would have had to remove the wires at 31,32 and installed the Pigtail into it at 31,32 to plug in your aftermarket BuCam.

I had purchased that connector from you but when I found it had the wires already populated I purchased an oem tailgate camera and the 68189124ac-001 harness I wasn't happy with the aftermarket camera I had. So I guess I will have to check the other connectors to see if the wire is missing between the radio and the tailgate

Definitely review post 10 in that DIY OEM BuCam thread @jawzs2 mentioned previously.... You're very likely missing the chassis harness section of camera wiring from the c322 behind the left front wheel back to the i550 tailgate connector by the spare tire.... If you check that i550 before it goes into the tailgate and only see the 2 lock wires you will know if (may also be an 18" wear out extension... Check the next forward connector on the harness)
