I’m currently deployed.

Bought this for when I get home. I already know it will work as planned, but I will need to update my USB port in the console, as well as get some sort of wireless dongle to use CarPlay wirelessly.

Question: Has anyone bought a dongle to use CarPlay wirelessly through Bluetooth with the 8.4 upgrade? If so, do y’all have any recommendations? Any help is appreciated.

What price range are you looking at for a dongle? I picked up a Ottocast U2-Air off of Amazon for $80 with prime shipping and it is holding up pretty good in my 2017 bighorn crew. It’s not as quick as directly wired but it is quicker than standard Bluetooth functions.

Trying to stay below $100 but if there’s an option that’s a little more expensive I’m willing to go up based on the quality.

Also, I kind of -assumed- I wouldn’t be able to use CarPlay without being plugged in; I’m not 100% certain. Is there any way to use it wirelessly without a dongle? I read on Apple’s website that you can use it wirelessly after you’ve plugged up through the USB, then paired your phone to CarPlay. Wondering if this method works for this upgrade in particular

I can not use wireless CarPlay on my 2017 without the dongle. I have been eyeing some apps that are out there for a wireless connection but haven’t had any luck yet with the make and year of my truck. My wives Honda does have wireless CarPlay but it is a brand new 2023 CRV
