I've got a quick question for y'all.

So this has happened on two occasions since I got the truck a little less than a month ago. I'll connect my iPhone via the bluetooth with the uConnect system in my '12 Laramie. If I click and play the music from my phone before the system picks it up automatically, the entire audio system will freeze where I can't switch to XM, FM, or even AM. The screen stays on the current uConnect screen, and the only thing I CAN do is just open and close the display. The screen will stay on for about 2-3 minutes after I kill the engine too even with the key removed.

I couldn't find anything on this site or another one that this is a common issue. Do y'all have any advice on what I should do? Have any of y'all experienced this before and fixed it? I don't know if I'm running the latest software available for my 2012, but I will check at 6 when I'm free.

Thanks.

I'm frustrated with the uconnect too, I thought it was a cool thing to use Pandora through the radio, but it keeps disconnecting. I have a iphone 6 plus.

My uconnect locked up so bad on me twice that the radio wouldn't shut off after I turned the truck off and removed the key. I ended up having to pull the radio fuse both times.

Hi TXPudge1868,

Sorry to hear about the concerns you're having with your Uconnect system! First, I would recommend making sure your software on both the Uconnect system and your phone is up to date. You can enter your VIN here to see if there are any updates for your Uconnect software: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/. If everything is up to date and you are still experiencing issues I would recommend deleting the bluetooth pairing from your phone and Uconnect system and re-pairing them. Finally, if this still solve your issues you can try a soft reset of your Uconnect system:

Step 1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN) For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having their foot on the gas or brake pedal
Step 2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons, at the same time, for thirty seconds.
Step 3) Let go of the buttons
Step 4) Turn vehicle off
Step 5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds
Step 6) Close door
Step 7) Restart vehicle
Step 8) Let the media centre load up and see if concern
is still present

If this doesn't help I would recommend visiting your local Ram dealership for further diagnosis. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Not to thread jack, but I had actually called Uconnect and the said my iPhone isn't compatible and that's why it's always disconnecting. Strange, seeing as Apple is one of the top phone manufacturers.

What aftermarket radios let us keep the steering controls, cameras, and all the other functions?

Thanks for the help @ramcares! I'll do that when I get back in the truck today. I'm glad I'm not the only one having issues here since it's such a random thing to happen to an audio system.

Glad you raised the question and I've hit the same problem on my 12 Laramie under similar conditions. I'll give the recommendations a shot and see what happens.

@RamCares: is there a way to get debug output from the system?

Hi Bob,

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by debug output? Let me know if you're able to verify that your radio is up-to-date and/or that you've tried the soft reset, and we can go from there!
