TL: DR: Skip to paragraph 4 for the somewhat relevant stuff about our UAQs, first 3 paragraphs are me blowing off steam about SXM scumbag service.
Had a big issue with SiriusXM last night, I bought my 2018 UAQ radio brand new in December and it came with a SiriusXM & Travellink trial that was listed on the account as expiring in August 2020. Last week for our anniversary I got my wife a 1 year subscription to Sirius in her new Chevy Equinox under my name. Initially I only got her a 6 month subscription because i couldn't find the 12 month promotion anywhere, but the following day I saw the 12 month promotion pop up so i called them and asked to have it switched, and the way they did that was by deleting & Refunding the 6 month subscription and then resigning her radio up for 12 months.
Well, whoever was taking care of that accidentally screwed up and deleted the Trial i had on the new UAQ in my RAM. I got in my truck after a rough day at work yesterday and NONE of my Sirius features worked, no radio, no travel link. So i called SXM, and of course got somebody in India, and i asked him what was going on, he puts me on hold for about 10 minutes, comes back and says, "Hey sorry, I see a note on the account here, your trial was accidentally cancelled, and your issue has been elevated to the next tier of support, i'll transfer you now". So i'm on hold for another 5 minutes, and get a new support agent, but it's not an elevated supervisor, it's another ground level minion. I explain to her what just happened and without skipping a beat she says oh, no, your account wasn't cancelled your 12 month trial ended, I started to lose it on this woman and demanded a supervisor.
Supervisor gets on the phone and just continues to blatantly lie to me, that my free trial expired, and i said absolutely no way, the first guy i spoke to admitted they screwed up and deleted the account and the radio build date isn't even until sometime in august (it was actually october when i looked back at the documentation i have), and there was absolutely no way I was close to having it 12 months. He didn't care, he just kept repeating the same stuff and eventually started telling me to call the dealer, F*ckin ********...
Now we get to the relevant part, I called Uconnect, got a very nice guy named Alex, i explained the situation and he was not having it, he went to bat for me with SiriusXM and battled all the minions in India to finally reach a US based customer service rep who could actually help me. They said yes, the minions accidentally deleted my trail, but because i bought an OEM radio after the fact it had no VIN associated with it so they couldn't reinstate my trial at their level... In the end I still got screwed, my account used to list my trial as expiring in August 2020, but never took a screen shot of that so i have no proof, now it expires on october 22nd, still 2 months shy of at least the 12 months i should've gotten with the new radio install.
After this whole incident I asked Alex about the software in my UAQ, and explained the ****** sound quality and the volume glitches. He said he was going to look into it and promised me an e-mail back, so far no e-mail, but it sounded like he didn't even know if there were any updates planned for the UAQ radio so if we're getting an update it'll be a big surprise when it gets released.
