Uconnect text problems

Has any had any issues with the uconnect not allowing to send custom voice texts? My used to work fine now when I hit reply it just freezes until it times out and says "cancelled". Has worked fine everytime I've used it before and I haven't done any updates since the late fall.

I have an iPhone and it don’t work with Uconnect. The Bluetooth hands free calling does but anything related to text is outta the question

If you use the SIRI function you can text, I use use it all the time.

Not sure with a android phone, but I was thinking after the trial Uconnect period you had to pay to be able to voice text??? Maybe that's why it was working and then now it's stopped all of the sudden....

Did your truck come from the factory with the 8.4" unit or did you upgrade ?

I have a 17' 8.4" non Nav. I dont use the function very often but it's nice to have so I can respond to text messages on the road.

I kept fooling with that this morning and I was able to get it to work twice out of about 15 times, the rest of the times I got function not available message or it timed out on me

My radio is the 5.0 Uconnect touch. It shows the message box in the phone settings but can’t access it.
I wish it was the 8.4 but from what I’ve been led to believe is that Apple and Uconnect don’t communicate because Apple won’t release the tech for them to be compatible. Or something like that. I’m not a techie I’m a country boy.

Now why in the hell cant they fix that. It’s beyond me

On the 2018 trucks when connected via Bluetooth the VR response menu option (from 13-17 8.4 trucks) is there but no longer functions... Instead it offers to select from the canned response. See this thread ...

that's because on the older models being able to speak a text reply was through the paid unconnect access subscription. Once it switched to sirius guardian and apple car play and android auto that was no longer an option.

Could be it. With my 2018 I must use the Android Auto app to send voice texts. There is no option to sign up for texting with the UConnect service as it has been up until 2018. For 2018 it's either the pre-defined, built-in messages only with UConnect or custom texting via Android Auto.

for a pre car play radio the only way to do text with an iphone and uconnect was with siri (nothing was really on the screen like it is with android phones)

That really stinks for you guys with apple that it doesn't work at all. I might try resetting mine this weekend to see if I can get it to work. Like I said when I tried it this morning it only worked twice out of 15 tries. I'm thinking it might just be glitchy and might need a reset. I'm really thinking about upgrading and shelling out the coin and doing the 2018 8. 4 mod for my truck
