So I got the underwood lamp kit but for the life of me I cant find the harness it plugs into. Did Ram hide it somewhere? I searched everywhere under the hood and pull the glove box off to see if it's tide back there.
I cant understand why they wouldn't just tape it to the engine harness. My truck is a 2020

If there's a wire loom going up the right hood hinge under the pad it's that.
Probably have to remove the pad to access it.

There's a good chance you might not have the wiring harness anymore,if you're truck is a lower trim level. My buddy has a 19 Classic Express and it doesn't have the harness, and i've heard other guys say their lower trim level Classics don't have it anymore. If it turns out you don't have the harness, you'll have to jury rig your own harness over to the battery, all the light needs is a 12v feed and ground, but it wouldn't hurt to add an inline fuse into the hot side feed, stick a 3 to 5 amp fuse in it,and you'll be good to go

I think you're right, mine is a classic express, I did however find the glove box light harness taped to the blower motor.

Just run a feed over to battery, all the light needs is a 12v feed and ground to work

Run 2 wires through some small plastic Loom from the light over to the battery.
I would find a Pressure switch that would be triggered when the hood lifts up.
Or at least an On/OFF Switch

If I’m not mistaken there is some type of ball switch in the light itself. As you open the hood and the angle of the light changes, something inside the light assembly itself moves and acts as an on/off switch. At least that’s how the ones have worked that Ive installed on my 2013 Express and 2018 Big Horn.

You are correct, i forgot about that
They used to have a ball that completes the circuit.

Almost like a mercury switch

I was under the hood yesterday and meant to take a pic of where I found my factory connector for the under hood light. I’ll do it today.

Good old hockey tape is a pretty close fascimile to the factory tape. It's close enough, most people don't notice the differance. There's a ground on the drivers side fender right behind the battery, you can run to,and the 12v feed tie to the postive side of the battery, and wrap both wires in hockey tape, and fish them up behind the insulation pad on the firewall,it'll be out of sight and look like a factory loom when done.

The light itself has a gravity switch, when you open the hood the switch is activated.

The wiring harness, with correct plug, is hidden under the hood mat. Small piece of tape to cut, and it unfolds for plugging in to the light fixture. I did this yesterday.

Thanks for the idea. I'll check my 2020 Tradesman for a wiring harness.
