Ethonol still has less BTU's per gal. Diesel has more BTU per gal than gasoline which is why they get more mpg than a comparable gas engine. also it takes around the energy equivalent of about two gallons of ethanol to produce 1 gal, not to mention the increase in price of corn due to ethanol mandates, then factor in the need for fertilizer and other chemicals used is it really better for the environment?
