I have a 2000 2500 with a 24v diesel. Engine has been overhauled. The truck is an automatic transmission with an extended cab, 8 ft bed and is 2 wheel drive. Transmission is starting to act up and 2 wheel drive is not very good in the winter here. I have a chance to trade a different project on 97 5sp v10 2500 4x4. All the mechanical aspects are no worries to me. From what I've researched frame and drivelines are compatible to put the diesel in the 97. My question is the electrical side of it. How would I match up the ecm to the bcm and whatever else so that I don't have a CEL on constantly? Thank you

I believe you'd need to bring over the ECU and engine harness from your diesel to swap into the 97. I myself am looking to V10 swap my 5.9 Gasser and that's what I've gathered so far. Just need engine harness, ECU, maybe engine mounts, and a few other accessory parts. You can use RockAuto to compare parts between the two engines
