I was given the pleasure to test one of the final prototypes for the Vararam Intake for the 09+ Rams. Hang in there, they are very close to final production, but unfortunately no release date has been set yet. I created this thread to post my reviews on it and to answer any questions that might arise.
I previously had a K&N that I swapped out with the Vararam. The Vararam makes the K&N feel like it's nothing. I have already noticeable power gains over the K&N, specifically, when I step on the gas the truck seems more responsive than with the K&N. I haven't had it long enough to report on mileage yet but I will in the future. With the K&N I was getting an average of 12.8 city - hopefully the Vararam will beat that number.
As far as design goes, the Vararam is GREAT. Air comes through the grill and gets shoveled right into the intake. When the hood closes, it seals with the hood liner so the air only has one way to go and that's straight to the intake. This is awesome for me - I do like to off road - mud, sand, water, whatever - and I think the way the Vararam seals will do a great job of keeping unwanted debris out of the intake. First opportunity to take it out and give it a good off road test I will.
I will report back with updates as I have them. Here's a pic of it installed on my truck.
