So I just installed my VaraRam intake and it looks badass. I have to say, the installation instructions suck, and that's being nice. If you buy one of these just know that you'll have to kind of figure out how to put it on yourself with some crappy pictures and common sense.

That being said, for anyone running this intake already, did you disconnect you battery for the 30 minutes like the instructions say to in order to reset your long term fuel trims? I'm wondering if this is necessary since I already have a tune, and I'll be having the tune adjusted next week when I get the 4.11's installed and delete the clutch fan finally.

I did, wasn't going anywhere and figured it wouldn't hurt anything and if recommended go for it... I left it off over night actually.
You can always do that process again when you get the gears installed

If you get your custom tune adjusted soon, I'd let Sean know that you put the VaraRam on. I think I disconnected my battery for a few hours after my installation.

just out of curiosity why would you need to have the tune revised just for gears and or intake?

I'm also removing the clutch fan, installing a better electric fan, and installing a 180 T-stat, so it'll need some tweaking.

Edit: BTW, it's unhooked right now. I'll give it 30-45 minutes and hook it back up.

Why do you need to unhook it for so long

To kill the KAM, keep alive memory. Unhooking the battery for a few minutes won't reset your long term fuel trims because the system has a small power source to retain stuff like that. If you unhook your battery, the KAM will power specific items. Leave it unhooked long enough and the KAM power dies.... Reset happens.

I think its totally unneeded. I 've one on my charger and my ram. Just install and drive it like you stole it, it'll wake up and respond.
What I think is proper to do is to seafoam the intake and add a catch can before you install that shiny new Ported TB. then drive it like you stole it and it will respond.

Ahhh, the 'ol Seafoam trick. Yeah, well I already installed the TB and didn't think of doing Seafoam. Probably a bit late now. Catch can is doing it's job though. After only about 500 miles I've got some oil sitting in there.
