Has anyone else noticed their vented/cooled seats being inconsistent? Its a brand new 2020 1500 limited and what made me start noticing was one day I was driving with my brother in the passenger seat when I turned on his sides cooling and he said it was really cold and felt like a air hockey table. I was puzzled as mine was never more than just "cool".

When I start my truck its preset to low and the first thing I do is set it to high. Over the past few months there have been a handful of times where the seat actually felt cold and made me realize what he was talking about, the rest of the time its just slightly cooler than ambient.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Depends what pants your wearing... It actually does make a difference, IMHO.

I wear shorts and a t shirt most of the time. Its not a subtle difference, its like having a regular fan on you vs A/C. One is a little airflow that is cool and the other times its like I am sitting on an A/C vent.

It just blows cabin air through the seat so something as simple as a jacket behind the seat boxing in the rear floor vents could make the air under the seat cooler if ac is on and if the cabin is hot it will blow hot air.

Just read that it is an independent unit so the temperature of the air coming out is whatever it is pulling from the cabin. This makes much more sense.

I put Laramie ventilated seats in my GEN 4. The fans are built into the seats and back. The fans pull air from the cabin into the seat. They do not blow air out. The cooling effect is most noticeable when the cabin temperature is low. If it is not cool in the cabin, you don’t feel much.
I suspect the GEN 5 work the same way, but cannot confirm this

Yup, Gen5 seats work exactly the same way. I used the paper test. With seat ventilation on the paper stuck to the seat back. Turned off the seat, paper slid down.

Yea I tested it myself and was surprised to see that it does actually pull air. Doesnt make sense to me as you are pulling moisture into the seat.

Hahaha...I thought of several ways to reply to this, but decided against all of them
