So, have a delaminating radio screen (among other things) that I took in for replacement before the 3 year/36 month warranty expires. Been waiting for over three months now with no update other than dealer saying they’re waiting on the part from manufacturer and can’t tell me when that will be as “they just send the parts when they want, and give us no idea as to when”.

Just asking if this sounds about right, or is the dealer jerking me around? In the scheme of things no biggie. Just kinda seems crazy how this has been accepted as an ok response from both the dealer and RAM!

The supply chain still hasn’t recovered from the covid debacle, so I still see part shortages all the time. It’s the “new normal” as they say.

Have you tried reaching out to @RamCares to see if they can escalate the issue?

Imagine, if you will, that it is the same with some essential and incredibly expensive farm machinery. Miss a planting or harvest season and that can be it financially. Supposed to be Just In Time. I wouldn't blame it on the "plague" but on some companies' business cost saving measures. Huge problem - finding something to drive, bad but possible.

exactly, no company invests in sufficient inventory any more.

I'd rather run head first into a brick wall than waste my time with ram cares.if my dealer can't light a fire under them I'm supposed to believe they will bend over backwards to help me? right.just keep on cranking out new vehicles while the rest of us twiddle our thumbs waiting on parts.

I recall running into the term just in time abck in the late 90 when I was still around the trucking industry, recall being told Japan was the one who came up with this idea, some thing to due with not wanting to pay taxes on inventory just siting on the shelf, but if a semi truck load of needed parts was to late it could shut down the line...

GM had a branch called Saturn not so long ago. It was setup as just in time. They made money the first few years and looked great right up until GM screwed them up. They figured it was working the way it was, so let's start sharing frames parts etc with other GM models, which killed the brand. Just in time MFG has been around since the late 70's. If all your supply chain is close it works, if not, it doesn't work so well.

And why would they? All the dealers are connected with each other, and they are supposed to trade inventory. Sometimes you even have same day delivery or the option to pick it up yourself (as the dealer). That's how it is since as long as I can remember, but I'm not so sure if they all still do it. I've heard they stopped this with vehicles, everyone in hanging on to their inventory. A very dumb move if you ask me.... but what do I know...

It took the CEO's office getting involved for me to get a transmission shipped dealer to dealer. 3 months of lies until that point.

This is absolute ridiculous and unacceptable!!!

I too have complained to Stellantis and asked that they audit their dealers, but I doubt they will. Hopefully with moving top management to the U.S. things will get better...

Top management is moving everything to India. Ramcares, warranty authorization, and others are already there. Jeep Wave is moving if it hasn't already.

It is my understanding that Tim Kuniskis has been appointed head of American brands and North America marketing and retail strategy, and new CEO/COO Antonio Filosa will reside in Michigan, just like Mr. Marchionne did. I hope this will change things, maybe not fast, but surely in the right direction.

You won't find any dealers letting another dealer have anything they have in stock now, that ended with covid. Ran into this face first a month or so back when trying to get a 3.92 diff for my buddies 6 speed Challenger,a couple dealers had one,but they weren't willing to give them up

Had the electronic shift module fail on a 21 Rebel. Not available, on national long term backorder. Car club friend who works in local CDJR parts dept searched and confirmed nobody had it. Long story short, showed up 3 months later. Friend told me they will sometimes issue a special order to a vendor to produce one part, often to avoid a buy back. He believes that's what happened in my case.

Who do you think is continuing to move operations to India? Having the head few guys here is one thing, having the people making decisions and helping customers daily is another.
