You won't find any dealers letting another dealer have anything they have in stock now, that ended with covid. Ran into this face first a month or so back when trying to get a 3.92 diff for my buddies 6 speed Challenger,a couple dealers had one,but they weren't willing to give them up

That's some BS, and I wonder if that comes from HQ or the dealers. If it comes from the dealers, they obviously don't have the customer in mind.

Had the electronic shift module fail on a 21 Rebel. Not available, on national long term backorder. Car club friend who works in local CDJR parts dept searched and confirmed nobody had it. Long story short, showed up 3 months later. Friend told me they will sometimes issue a special order to a vendor to produce one part, often to avoid a buy back. He believes that's what happened in my case.

I believe it. Sad though.

Who do you think is continuing to move operations to India? Having the head few guys here is one thing, having the people making decisions and helping customers daily is another.

Okay, I need to look up this India part.

Sooo, another month and still no part! Absolutely crazy. Tried the RamCares route—they were very friendly, but as others mentioned, they really can’t do anything except research if the issue is being taken care of, then tell ya you’ll get the part when it comes in. Then after their initial research, you’re back to square one. How can Stelantis view this as acceptable customer service?! The dealer has been no better, they dropped the ball, as well. Very disappointing to feel you have no one on your side for a warranty issue…

Okay, I need to look up this India part.
Can confirm, in my recent 3 month adventure, at least the first 2 tiers of RAM customer service are apparently outsourced to India. Could not understand their broken English, so I did most communication with email. Better for documentation anyway. I annoyed the initial service rep enough that he "upgraded me to the next level", another India rep. Probably a guy in an adjacent work space. I annoyed the 2nd rep enough that he transferred me to RAM Customer Retention, based in Michigan. Couple weeks later the part suddenly appeared. Customer retention rep was easy to work with. Worked with him on compensation for the 3+ months w/o my truck.

It’s crazy. Another month gone by and still waiting on the part. This is over six months now. Even worst, I may be back at square one, as my dealer is now saying they can’t even tell me if the part has been ordered on their end. Apparently, now they can’t even find it in their system. The Service Manager even told me they’re too busy to look and I’m just gonna have to be patient. How can you run a business like this?! Again, it’s a shame—love the truck—but RAM obviously has a major problem due to their vendors and dealers (at least in South Florida) inability to service their products…

Ridiculous. Agreed and feel your frustration. At least I can drive the truck. My problem is this started when the truck was under warranty. Past that now, so I’m at this dealerships mercy to when this gets resolved…

Update—month 7 and still no part! RamCares passed me off to another Customer Care Rep. Been telling me my case has been “escalated” for months, but supplier is still behind on production. You telling me Stellantis has no 8” screens to place in their new vehicles?!
Dealer has proven to be even worst. Been horrible, showing total inability to provide any customer service—from Service Manager’s to their techs. Apparently, it’s very difficult to find service order and provide an update?! My concern is the radio may by the grace of g-d arrive and they’ll give to another customer because they have no clue!
So disappointed in Stelantis…

That's all they do.

It's why I haven't pulled the trigger on a new Gladiator. My wife and I both like the truck, it would be a nice option for me to drive when the PW isn't going to fit and it would be her regular vehicle...but neither of us trust Stellantis to be reliable or to take care of it if it is. So, we'll either buy a competitor or wait for 2024s to come off lease (2024 got a lot of updates) and buy used.

I waited 2 years for a Part. It was the middle of Covid. My E FAN was bad. Dealership ordered and for a year no joy, no time frame. I had gone to local dealer for issues, as I did not buy in town and was not sure truck would make it the 1 to 1 1/2 hours where I bought from. LOCAL dealership tells me E FAN bad, no chit Sherlock, knew that 1 year ago. THEY told me my Maxcare warranty would not cover and they wanted $1200 to do. AH NO. SO ne way, called my dealership, and no time frame if/when/if ever come in. So 2 years gone by now, AND I call my SA at Dealership. To SA: Remember that my E FAN is bad and been 2 years AND still no part. SO SA says, well we got new Parts Manager and Service manager: They contact MAXCARE again on the part, and wala, all of a sudden I am good. Part ordered, verified and comes in. Get installed and DEALERSHIP covered my $100 deductible (as a courtesy since took 2 years to get, nice gesture). Only took 2 years and like 25 days. The moral of the story: keep to yer guns, but 2 years a long time.

Just providing an update. Moving into month 8, and still no part! My Customer Care Rep just keeps calling every two weeks to tell me the issue has been expedited, however unable to provide a time frame when the part will be received. What a mess Stelantis is…

ive been waiting on a part from GM for 2 months with no end in sight. thankfully, it does not stop me from driving the truck. runs flawless for now. part on national backorder. but i spoke with a parts manager that had some common sense. he said does your truck happen to be owned by a business? it sure does.

Apparently GM and who knows if Stellantis is this way, will make exceptions for trucks/cars used for work and/or also for first responders. He emailed his rep last week with my truck registration (to prove biz ownership).

GM pulled the needed part off the assembly line and has shipped it.

This does seem to be the norm for Stellantis. I was talking to my wife about trading the truck in at the end of the warranty period. Problem is, my top choice would be a Jeep Wrangler. Reading all of these claims has me thinking I should scrap that idea. Might end up getting a Bronco instead.

My wife has an Expedition and the trans went bad. They had a new trans installed in under a week, which impressed me. Thought she was going to be using are spare vehicle for at least a few weeks.

They all have their issues, my friend had a GMC Sierra with small Duratech, less than a year old, they couldn't fix it, he had to use another of his vehicles. He finally traded it back in for a 5.3 gas engine.

Electronics especially are getting hit hard. Between the Trump tariffs and chip manufacturers chasing the AI profit, there's likely to be a growing shortage across all electronics, not just ram and graphics cards. Lots of chip manufacturers are switching to higher profit chips and away from consumer commodity chips.

Cutting the CHIPS act that was being used to increase domestic manufacturing hurt as well, as the funds were already apportioned then companies got rug pulled. We're way too reliant on Taiwan for such a basic building block of our economy.

Stellantis was suing suppliers over breaking contracts, they simply couldn't produce the subassemblies any longer at the price they had agreed to because the base component prices had went up so much. Stellantis leadership is apparently cool with bankrupting their suppliers for a short term cost benefit...which seems on brand for how they've prioritized short term over long term since Stellantis became a thing.

And why would they? All the dealers are connected with each other, and they are supposed to trade inventory. Sometimes you even have same day delivery or the option to pick it up yourself (as the dealer). That's how it is since as long as I can remember, but I'm not so sure if they all still do it. I've heard they stopped this with vehicles, everyone in hanging on to their inventory. A very dumb move if you ask me.... but what do I know...
In theory that would work but, I had a power steering rack that failed while I was in Ottawa Ontario and a dealer in Quebec had 5 in inventory but he WOULD NOT ship one to Ontario. I ended up with a rebuilt rack from an after market outfit.

Didn't know that got cut. I try to stay out of the news and politics as much as possible but I'm a tech guy so the tariffs and chip shortages hit me pretty hard.

Wolfspeed tanked and declared bankruptcy when they didn't get the money that had been assigned to them, but is still in operation. I took a $2k loss on that one, but I got 4 whole shares in the bankruptcy deal so maybe when I'm 106 I'll have made my money back.
