I got a couple questions regarding Evans Waterless Coolant:

1) Has anyone tried using it yet in the Hemi's Or any other vehicle? And is it compatable with the Hemi's

2) Does it work any better than a water/coolant mixture? And in what situation would it be more effective (I.E Towing/Hauling, Racing, Daily Driving or all of the above).

3) Is it really worth it cost wise?

4) What would be involved in doing this and how long does it take?

I had a discussion with a guy at work about waterless coolant. Supposedly because it chemically blended that it has an increased boiling point to pull heat more efficiently and reduces the amount of corrosion internally on the system. Also it won't freeze under extreme cold temperatures.

It also claims its a lifetime coolant so long as its not contaminated with water. I have a hard time believing that something that plays a crucial role in the lifespan of a engine is "lifetime". It may not create scale or corrode the inside of an engine but nothing is lifetime, not even the life of the vehicle.

That kind of coolant is mainly designed to be used under extreme use say hard towing, racing, industrial or heavy duty applications where the engine is running hard and hot for extended periods of time. For an everyday DD vehicle it really just doesn't seem to make sense compared to what ordinary coolant can accomplished. Most new cars and trucks now the coolant can last up to 6 years and over which is about the same time thats recommended in the service manual anyways.

So long as the cooling system is maintained when its due, ordinary 50/50 pre mix or 60/40 blend is going to do the same job as the expensive stuff. That and in the event of a leak, its easier to throw in a gallon of water on the side of the road then mixing it with the synthetic waterless stuff and have to drain out the system entirely.

Just my opinion from working in a shop.

I thought about using it in a car I had & the cost is high.

It lasts longer since it does not have water & does not build pressure because of that.

If you do use it - remember you need the flush that is to be used be before you put the coolant in = more money.

And there's a very specific procedure to follow when flushing. If you don't follow it to the letter it won't work right.
