I think that on any social media platform no matter the topic or format, user blocking should be complete and bilateral. In other words if user 1 blocks user 2 that should also prevent user 2 from seeing user 1 (and not nag or inform either user just quietly they don't exist to each other).

Two reasons, first is safety there are some lunatics out there and it would be better if users could just disappear to each other if one of them wants that. I know that's not foolproof, nothing is. Second it's a nuisance to see the reminder that you've ignored somebody, that's like replacing a barking dog with a clucking chicken.

I also like the idea of a no AI rule as impossible as that might be to enforce but we're here to bounce ideas off humans, any of us could just skip the forum and go straight to AI if we wanted to talk to AI.

Regarding the politics and sensitive subjects I'd prefer not to see any of that on a truck forum, it's hard enough to have a facts-based conversation about parts literally in a truck like catalytic converters because of how things are in society.

Why not add a 'Last online' indication below the join date on every member's avatar?

This would hopefully reduce the amount of wasted time and bandwidth when a member chooses to or accidentally resurrects an ancient thread.

This 'last online' information is already available for those in the know, but it seems many are not aware of where to look. This results in an older thread showing up in the new posts area.

Sometimes many years have passed, with most of the original respondents long gone.
We might occasionally see some value in the ancient thread resurrection, but usually it's no longer relevant and a big waste of time for all involved.

That's my perspective, and YMMV.

Interesting take on the resurrection issue, and I understand your valid point. I have a slightly different opinion, I think the resurrection usually shows that the 'offender' did a search, and found an old thread. Therefore, I think it's a positive sign that someone is making the effort to search before posting about something that's been asked a hundred times already.

Anyway, that's JMHO. No big deal either way.......

I agree with both of you. Many necro threads are still useful. Many new members are one post and gone so last online would be useful mostly on more recent threads so we don't waste our time trying to help someone who has never come back to check for answers.
