You asked for feedback and suggestions from the members, now you only want the feedback you agree with. Everything else is off topic?

For the record, I disagree with allowing a section for politics. Those turn into a dumpster fire and are MAJOR work to moderate. I quit two mod jobs after they opened up the sites to politics. Moderating a forum is unpaid volunteer work, not supposed to be a 12 hours a day deal.

Maybe you have people on ignore, but there was an argument brewing that had zero to do with the site and all to do with a major social/political issue. I'm sure that's what he was nipping in the bud.

I had the same experience, though my moderator position was compensated (minimally). The opening of politics ruined the forum. It's not even liberals vs conservatives, it's the hyperpolitical vs everyone else. They would just *have* to insert politics into every post, no matter how tenuous the connection. Oh, your doctor was late for your appointment? That's the world *insert political opponent* wanted. Oh, your daughter didn't get a date to prom? Welcome to the reality that *insert political opponent* created sort of pure nonsense.

On gmt400 I can post YouTube vids with thumbnails that launch on the page. Could we get that here.
It's on the list for most of the Fully Driven sites. Thanks for the input!

Correct. That was going off the rails, so good call. I am pretty happy with the way it is handled, considering how fast even a discussion about oil filters can get sidetracked.

Will also vote for no relaxing on controversial issues in the existing threads. If there is a separate area i wouldn't be worried as I would never go there. Like already said, I get enough just going through the day. Nice to come here and see people helping others.

It's common sense to me. It's a truck forum. I come here to talk and learn about trucks, not politics, not religion.
Profanity is depraved. I don't talk that way to my children or my wife. It makes you sound dumb, like your vocabulary is so limited and not intelligent. The posts that actually help and sound believable are what I want to read. So many times I wish I could edit that garbage out even if it's asterisks.

Require if someone posts a code , in their search for help , that they should also include its meaning .

Since it seems to me they have already done this, before asking us for help.

It may not be possible , but sure would be nice .
It might even help to get more responses , as some might not want to look for the code’s meaning.

If I reply to a post, hit <Post Reply>, and then realize I wanted to quote a previous post in the thread, I cannot add that quote to my reply. It does not give the <Insert Quote> button.
If you want to add another quote from someone to a reply you already have started just go back the thread and hit quote again (or highlight the part you want to quote first)
The auto-censoring of words is plain crazy. Take *** for example. The word r u m. Seriously?
Like this reply to you, I highlighted what I want to reply to them hit quote. Typed my reply then went back and highlighted the part about auto-censoring.

^^^ this right here
Even if the political content is confined to one area the fighting still spills over into other threads. I've seen this happen with within threads that were pertinent to forum subject. Sadly due to misbehavior on both parties they both were given free vacations to cool off and warned not start back up when they were allowed back in a week or they would gone permanently.

This is one of the best product forums on the web that I've participated in.

That's why I'm still here, even though the company has been bought and sold too many times and milked to near death. Our issues now are mostly legacy product, which is ok, but not ongoing products much more.

My only beef with the site is the way too sensitive word censorship. I've not seen this kind of extreme censorship on any other site. Must be some kind of unique vendor program.

... like for example, discussing an oil sample(s)/results with reference of being an "v i r g i n" oil sample submitted to (your preferred oil analyst), that word that is in reference to oil being unused and new is censored in the posted comment .. just one of many "nanny, might hurt your meaning words" that shouldn't be censored.

Someone mentioned having factory manuals available. Doubt that would be possible since these are copyrighted materials.
What I would like is a forum specific app. But I imagine that would be too cost prohibitive.

How about if a forum has not been replied to in a certain period of time, it locks.

That way, new members who might not know how to post won't add to a possibly old thread.

Down the road, if the original poster wants to add to it, they could have a Mod unlock it.

I agree, the word censoring is out of hand. Seemingly normal words are being censored.

Also the ability to send a picture in messages. When someone asks a question it would be really nice to be able to upload a pic instead of having to create a link to my Google photos...

I may be reading it wrong, but I thought you could as long as it's not repetitive. IE, running a resale or manufacturing business via the classifieds without paying for a business sponsorship.
