Ok first off let me start off buy saying thank you all for the great experience I have had on this forum. It has helped me solve issues.

I have a weird issue when first turning on my truck, its a diesel I understand when it first starts up that the glow plugs need power but when I turn on the truck the battery gague goes from 14 to 8 volts back and forth till properly warmed up. it doesn't die but the accessories act like there is no power. Is this normal?

The batterys are 7 years old and I don't think the alernator has been changed in this truck.

After being warmed up everything seems to be fine.

Any suggestions?

I know diesel glow plugs do use lots of hydro when operating and may prevent certain items from running properly at a lower voltage. But 7 yr old batteries is a little long, you are on borrowed time for sure. This is not to say why you are experiencing problems with other electronics, but new components require a good electrical source to function properly. Changing both batteries is a wise choice regardless of any problems you are dealing with.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking so I appreciate it. I totally get how glow plugs pull a lot. Can this be a possible issue that the alternator could be dropping in amps
