I’d be tempted, but since it’s not strictly RWD I’ll pass. The “push a button” to switch from 4x4 to RWD turns me off.
Go find somebody with a Hellcat Durango or Trackhawk and get them to give you a hard 4 wheel drive launch, trust me you'll change your mind about 4X4 launches :Big Laugh:

This right here. Many moons ago I was a rear drive only truck guy. Then I got my 03 Dakota, and the first time I did a 4x4 launch I understood. Now with my 3.5 EB F150, man you load a little boost and launch that son of a will PULL. In rear drive only I can't mat it unless I'm going 20-30 already and then it still wants to spin.

If that's the real prices and the cool kids do the 3-5% under invoice, that's real competitive.

Give me the 33 gallon tank, a HUD, no stop/start, and heated/ventilated seats and I'm a potential buyer for the 6.4L. IF they don't **** up the reliability.
I really think that's the range they're going to be in, at least for the 5.7 base and 6.4 base. Both are largely parts bin trucks aside from the frame and when you compare to the only "competition" they know they have to be price competitive. Lobo being the direct competition to both, they have to undercut it a little just due to cab size and demand.

I'm sold on this thing unless they completely monkey the price. Pretty solid on the 5.7 base but if I could get a 6.4 with the up level interior for under 70 I'd really think about it.

What the hell is a "Lobo" ;)

Even my lil ol 6 cylinder Limited would be nearly unmanageable with a 3200 rpm boosted launch.

Thanks for that update and link Mike.I don't pay much attention to Ford or GM these days,so i'd never heard of the truck ;)

The Maverick Lobo kind of made a splash, but for some reason they hamstrung it by cheaping out on the tires and made an odd decision with the transmission. They took the 8 speed and electrically limited it to a 7 speed, which made no real difference in acceleration. The braking is worse than the FX4, largely due to the factory tires.

The good news is it uses some quality parts pulled from the go-fast Focus bin. A tune and some sticky tires makes it a rocket *within it's class* and supposed to handle pretty well. The guys who were hotrodding the Focus ST and RS? This is the truck for them.

The F-150 Lobo never really got much attention. It's not that different from a regular F-150 at a glance and doesn't really add much aside from cosmetics and a slight lowering kit.

Hence my tongue in cheek comment that it's Ford for base truck but worse.

What an interesting truck and hope it sells. I understand why no crew cab but man this will restrict sales. People looking for fun and "more" practical will gravitate to the RHO.

Curious on how compliant they make the ride. This is a massive selling point on the RHO/TRX. They say anything about adaptive dampers?

Tack Pack 392 and SRT both get trick Bilstein air suspension. One of the YouTube channels had an engineer do a deep dive on it, it's actually really neat how they did it. They also added a stabilizer to the rear axle to dampen axle hop on it.

Base 5.7 and non-track pack 392 both get regular suspension that looked largely parts bin aside from lowering. That air suspension is the only thing that might push me to track pack.

Personally, I really like the cab design. I mean, how often do you have full-size people in the back seat?? Usually it's dogs, or kids, or groceries, or junk. I would have been even more thrilled if the bed was 6.5', thus making it a 'real' pickup truck. I think we all understand these design decisions are a toss-up, you can't please all the people all the time. But I think, overall, this new truck hits a lot of nails right on the head.

For me, I would want an acceptable ride quality, not something that rides like a tank. I owned two Corvettes in the past, a C5 and a C6, both of which handled like true sports cars, yet offered a very comfortable ride quality. My friends ALWAYS remarked how nice those Corvettes rode, and with no squeaks or rattles, haha. Like I said in earlier post, if my local dealer gets a S/C version of this truck in stock, I am gonna go for a ride. If it rattles my teeth out over every bump, then that's a deal killer. I live in Rhode Island, where the roads are like living in a third world country.... bumps, ruts and potholes everywhere.

Very often and I don't like dogs. HA! Crew cabs are legit if ever drive distances with passengers more than just to work and back. The market has spoken on what's popular. It does look right in this configuration though.

What I'm hoping and anticipate. hard to manage cornering compliance and ride quality without electrical intervention.

Some have scuffed at the non 2wd standard option. First thing I looked for in the article was AWD. No going back once you have lived with it.

if you have never driven wide truck, get ready. This is grocery store back-of-the-lot sized trucks no matter the hight. narrow roads will test your nerves. parking garages are out. This is your warning.

That was a hang up for me on the Raptor and the TRX was 2" wider again. I was more concerned with trails, but I also don't want to suck the truck up through the seat in a tight construction zone...

Well, if you're trying to put down all that power it'll come in handy unless you want a sit 'n spin. :D

It may be more advantageous in some situations, but to me, it also adds more weight, more complexity, and increases maintenance.

Besides, I rather like sitting and spinning! ;)
