I think I am going to tackle this myself... Any suggestions on tools I would need? I assume I would need a special socket to get a good grip on those rusty old bolts. I couldnt get any of the sockets I had to get a solid grip on them

use one of the 6 sided sockets, less chance that it will strip the bolt head, get a long extension to help with a little elbow room, I have a 2 footer that worked like a charm. Don't be afraid to get a little rough with it.

Penetrating oil..... over, over, over and over again. Spray them as much as you can between now and when you start the job. Spend some time checking access to every bolt and get the tools you might need. A little preparation goes a long way. Just like sometime you hit the edge of a jar on the counter to break loose, take a hammer and try to hit each bolt head straight on and solid. Anything you can think of that might help I would do.

You can't blame the shop for shooting you straight. If you think you are upset now just wait till they come tell you your $500 job will cost you $1500 more.

Good luck
