Lockpick + camera

I'm about to get the Lockpick v5 for my 2011. I also want to add a rear camera. Seems like I remember seeing a camera install on here where an aftermarket camera was mounted in the tailgate handle, and it came with trim rings to adjust the angle, but I can't seem to find it now. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I posted this in the Audio forum with no responses, hoping to get some help here. I am about to buy the MyGig Lockpick, and was planning on running a rearview camera. I saw a thread on here a good while back where someone used an aftermarket camera and mounted it in the tailgate handle. It had trim rings on it to adjust the angle. I'm looking for something like that, hopefully with the distance markers. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I went to the Mopar place today to ask how much for the rear camera and installation. They said 690! I said thank you and walked right out the door! Absurd!

The cheapest way is to purchase the camera ($50 to $200), from Chrysler if you choose, mount it in your tailgate handle or wherever you want to, hook it up, run it up to the radio plug it in and then go to your Ram service department ($50 to$100?) and have them flash your vehicle to accept the camera.

The lockpick route will run you somewhat more (for the price of the lockpick) but you will not have to have your vehicle flashed for the camera to work with the radio.

The beauty of the lockpick lets you add extra camera's to your system, back, front and both sides of your truck for the blind spots. The factory setup only allows one. It will also give you more options on how you will be able to run your system.

I may be wrong but i dont think pre '13 you can just flash the computer for the camera.

Any aftermarket camera will work with a lockpick. just get a "bullet" style and drill a hole in the handle. thats what i did.

I used this camera.
Amazon.com: XO Vision HTC35 Universal Weatherproof Backup Camera with NightVision: Automotive

So did a few others here.
Just drilled the hole in the tailgate handle and installed it just like the factory camera. Originally, I had it displaying on a rear view mirror monitor, but I recently added a lockpick so now it displays on my 430 RBZ.

I powered the camera by tapping the reverse light circuit in the trailer harness and it displays whenever I put it in reverse. It's been working great since I installed it in July, 2012.

Yes, 2009 to 2012 can be flashed to make the radio display the image. Only on radios that have the touch screen such as the RBZ.

"In order for the camera to work, you have to go to a dealer and have the sales code (XAC) flashed." This is from member JohnnyDollar who installed an RBZ radio and camera in his truck.

I've been thinking about doing this, but now it is way too cold to be out running wires under the truck
