Well started off as just an oil change. $72 for oil (3 gals T6) and a $17 (fleetgard)filter. On the way to the base auto hobby shop, hell might as well change the transfer case oil Only 2 quarts. The '18 ram manual says not to use the usual ATF+4. Go to the dealership. 2 quarts $105 WITH military discount. That's $210 a gal!!! WTF!

Did my cabin vents today. Passenger was a pain to slide in between the cab and bed, but, finally got it in after some persuasion. Driver side slid in with no problems. The vents I got were a little wider than the stock ones, so, I couldn't get them in from the inside.

I did mine today, wasn’t to bad, around 3 hrs and I didn’t rush.
I pulled them up from the bottom, wouldn’t fit from the top, definitely the bolts on the seat brackets were the hardest part.
I don’t know if was thread tight, rust or a combination of the two but they fought all the way until the last turn.

Yeah, I pulled mine up from the bottom as well. There is thread tight on the bolts. Nothing a big breaker bar couldn't take care of.

Drivers headlight out again. Every time I pull the assembly loose it lights up. Can not find the fault. Right rear fender light out as well. Good thing these do not show up on the dash, the constant ding ding ding would drive me crazy.

Hosed it off and took a picture to use for my avatar. Still waiting for PA to either decide if nicer weather and no more salt or if it’s going to stay crappy and get more salt laid down on the roads before I give it a full deep inside and out cleaning.

I used an old torque wrench my father gave me, no rachet so took awhile to do the rears, 1/4 turn at a time. They would start to feel easier & I switched back to my 1/2” drive just to go back to the longer wrench.
I had started on the front driver side & came out fairly easy, thought don’t know what everyone was talking about, then I found out.
The other 3 fought all the out until the last turn, it was around 55* & I was sweating by the time I finished.

Had a similar issue with my left rear taillight. I filled the plug with headlight grease on both sides and haven't had an issue since.

Finally bit the bullet and did my exhaust manifolds at 187k miles. Well, paid an independent shop to do it because it's already almost 100 degrees here and honestly it looked like a pain. Paid $1,646 bucks, was supposed to be $1,350 but mechanic found 5 broken bolts/studs and 3 were broken off below flush, so had to pay a bit extra on labor. Glad I took it to the shop, I don't have a welder and the thought of trying to drill those 3 below flush bolts in awkward positions is not my idea of fun. I will pick up the truck tomorrow, looking forward to driving without the constant ticking from the exhaust!

Changed out the rear differential fluid. Being at 108,000+ and not knowing what previous owner kept up with been wanting to get the dif fluids changed here’s what came out of the rear and what went in. Old fluid definitely dark still some tackiness to it with the old finger pinch test haha but wanted to be sure being the new owner I know what’s in there. Onto the front then oil/filter change.IMG_7069.jpeg

If you don't know what you are doing, I have heard of more then one guy drilling into the water jacket then you are buying a head, so somethings just pay someone is a good idea.
I am doing that with the snow now on the sidewalks, But I still do the back yard and the decks.

I was well aware of the water jacket issue. I have drill stops etc but this particular repair did not look fun and at least a few ways to mess it up, so wort it me to pay a shop for this one. I just did my entire front and rear suspension myself but I was not keen on doing the exhaust manifolds.

So I searched the forum for a thread like this and didn't find anything. I figured it would be fun to have a thread that everyone can watch what everyone is doing each week.

This week I put on Steelcraft nerf bars, and right now I'm getting the permaplating put on the truck. This way it gets a real good bath.
Finally removed my radio, not completely, but enough to see if could find a loose connection/wire that might explain why it shuts off every couple of minutes.
The radio has done this since I got it, it’s a 15’ that I got in 19’ but used to go weeks at a time with no issues.
I pm’ed SitKneelBend for help, I was afraid I would break something trying to remove the radio & end with a rattling dash, which would drive me crazy.
He sent me a link that worked perfectly, it was easier than I thought, between that & his advice I’m pretty sure radio $hit the bed as I didn’t find any loose connections.
Wanted to say a public THANK YOU to SitKneelBend, if the forum ever had a contest for members helping us with solid advice & sharing their expertise/knowledge he would have to be in the top 3 IMHO.
