Got my truck back from the body shop yesterday where some @$$hole side swipped me and ran....but saw my grill in their rear view for a few miles....

Also threw some new shoes on it, still has the stock lift.

As stated a few days ago, I did my 8.4 update to 18.45.01. All went super smooth, so I thought. Fast forward a few days and the Nav update I bought from HERE cam in and I decided to go for it yesterday.

Problem: Can't get the update request code when plugging in the USB drive from HERE. Crap...... Come to find out, the USB hub in the console is now dead, after doing the software update on the radio. This is odd, I thought. Checked fuses, rebooted the infotainment, yada, yada, yada. Nothing. Pulled the hub out and disconnected wiring and restarted truck. Turned off truck and reconnected hub. Bingo..

All works OK now. Maybe it was the software / firmware update, maybe it wasn't. Who the F**** knows, but it works now.

Nav update went as planned after that.

Was going to the store yesterday, got in my truck, no throttle response. Press the gas, nothing, stayed at idle. Had the throttle body light on the dash. No codes. Went thru the throttle relearn, using AlfaODB, problem solved. Truck is running fine again. Very odd.

Washed, waxed, removed all the water spots from the glass, added an AVS hood protector to replace the one that broke off after 5 years.....spent more money ordering more parts

Oil change, RP 10-48 and 7 quarts of Kirkland 5w20. Replaced the oil filter to block connector, as it had some buggered threads, and always leaked very slightly. 12mm Allen socket broke out the old connector, red lock tight the new connector.

next weekend I'm mounting the DOD24M muffler, and 5" black exhaust tips, both birthday gifts from my wife, I love that gal

Brought it outside and washed it. Good time to show what I did with graphics. I am still going to do some pinstriping, and a couple other things.
I don't know if I showed how I painted my wiper arms, so here's a pic.
It's going in for front end alignment tomorrow, so then I'll be able to drive it around.

Halfway through changing my manifolds. Two broken bolts on passenger side. Got one out with an extractor (was sticking out quite a bit) and one broken flush. So I got a template to make tapping out easier. I gave up just before sun went down. Couldn't fit a drill to get the broken bolt so used my DeWalt 1/4 inch impact with right angle adapter. Just can't seem to get drilled deep enough to extract. Wish I could get a drill on there with my left hand drill bits. Son in law is coming to see what he can do. He's a diesel mechanic,but didn't think this was going to be so difficult.

Finished up my truck bed drawers that I made, Only thing missing in the picture are the small leather pulls I added to the small drawers on the right.

Added LED footwell lights, swapped the factory lenses in to cut back the brightness of the clear lenses LED, it was definitely brighter then the rest of the LEDs in the truck lol

So I finally finished my manifold on passenger side (2 broken bolts, 1 was flush). Didn't do driver side yet, will do that another weekend (no leaks or broken bolts). The original broken bolt stuck out a bit so I got a stud extractor bit and got that pretty easy. The other broken bolt snapped as soon as I started breaking bolts free. It was just under the broken bolt so it was blasted with exhaust glasses for months. I tried drilling and using easy outs,but couldn't get it and then had my son in law bring over his flux core welder. Took a few tries to get it hot enough. Attempt that worked wasn't even centered on the nut and still backed out easily. The last pic is the one that shows the drilled out bolt. The back left 2 bolts are the ones that broke. Seems to always be those 2, probably the hottest part of the manifold. Just glad I got my BD diesel manifold on there and no more tick.

I've been on a rampage replacing worn out parts and changing fluids since purchasing my truck a couple months back.

Last week was the rear differential fluid, and a small EVAP leak.

Before that I changed the inner and outer tie rods.

I love tinkering and getting into engines so I'm having a lot of fun.

That reminds me I got to do coils and plugs on my 3.6....which means spend half a day taking the upper intake off for 45min of coil and plug replacement lol

Well I have changed the front and rear diff fluid and the transmission and transaxle fluid.

And today what a PITA but it took me three hours and I changed all 16 spark plugs.

The far two on the driver side where the most difficult. Probably took me the majority of the time. I had to get on top of the engine to be able to deal with them.

The rest were pretty straightforward.

I’m lucky that I have a good collection of extensions and swivels and magnetic spark plug sockets. Otherwise you wouldn’t be able to do this.

I came away with a bunch of tools I want to buy

I need a shorter torque wrench, and the Milwaukee 1/4 and 3/8 M12 right angle ratchets are looking good.

Just ordered an aftermarket transmission pan so that's coming in a week or so.
