I made the switch because I was tired of the F150 5.4 3 valve having every issue known to man. That engine has so many design flaws it's not funny and I wasn't wanting to do the cam phaser bit so I sold it and went the RAM route. Couldn't be happier for my first one.

- the Ford owners in my family (2) all ******* about the aluminum (and although probably rigged, that Chevy commercial where they dropped a toolbox into the Ford bed scared the crap out of me.)

What was the ***** about the aluminum?

If you can't DODGE it "RAM" it:

I was looking at truck well over a year before I bought my 17 Rebel. I had a 05 Z71 with the 5.3 that had 257K miles on it. Original drive train. I knew that I needed more power than what the 5.3L offered when pulling my 22.5' bay boat. I test drove a Z71, very uncomfortable and plain. Never even considered a Ford. I drive a 2013 Ford around the plant at work and was very unimpressed with the 5.0L. I brought it to the mechanics shop for the first oil change. He asked what motor it had and I told him a v-6. Didn't know it was a 5.0L until I looked under the hood. First time Ram owner and love my 17 Rebel. It's comfortable and just plain fun to drive. Plenty of power...

Couple of things - that it dented much easier (esp. on my brother's farm truck), and the bigger worry that the Chevy commercial actually would come to pass (though both did get real thick plastic bed liners pretty quickly after they bought the things...) A bit of peeking on YouTube also showed how easily the slightest tear on a fender could end up obliterating the thing entirely if anything (or anyone) pulled on it - by hand...

My son in law has a 2017 f150 (his father works at a ford dealer) and he said he can see the bed buckle when the gas nozzle is hanging on it. His father also told me they replace a lot of those turbos at over 1200 a piece plus labor.

Also on youtube search ford aluminum body frame twist. They show dually's with one side rear tires in air on an uneven footing test. The frame twist and they cant even opencthe tailgate and thats with nothing in the bed. Thr Rams & Gm's don't have any problem with the same test.

You should see what mu Son-law F-150 looks likes after a small deer ran in to right front grill/bumper. It wiped hood,Grill, bumper and both fenders!

The white one’s pretty obvious, that was gas pump break-away nozzle - 1, Phord pickup -0, the blue one was supposedly a load shift and the third one was an antenna that got ripped out from a brush-type automated car wash. Pretty pathetic if ya ask me. Those gas pump nozzles are supposed to break away when you drive off without taking the nozzle out first. And you’d think the antenna would break off before the base got ripped from the fender but nope, that military grade aluminum is built Phord tough....lol.

Had many new fords. All the engines from 5.4 triton to 6.4 and 6.7 deisels nd my last a 15 lariat f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost. The deisels were a nightmare with the **** vacuum 4x4 not working, head gaskets on the 6.4 so traded to a 13 6.7 (all lariats) and at 60 kms the whole coolant system including hoses rads and pumps needed changing. the 15 f150 had two sunroofs, doors that froze open,no heat and blown front diff. all before bumper was up. done fighting with ford.

i figured ram had got it right after a 9 year run with the truck (have an 18). have 13 000kms on it now a water leak in cab and non working uconnect but a record for the past ten years of no major mechanical work. have the bilsteins ready to go but have to figure what to do with rear she does not handle weight well. But ram has 4x4 system dialed! no rattles or clunks or feeling like someone hitting your floor board with a hammer going into 4by. she does not look like the newest model but i just want a truck i can take past the bumper to bumper warrenty.

"Military Grade" may work on the civilian rubes who never knew better, but to anyone who has been in the military (of any nation), that term means only one thing: Overpriced crap bought from the lowest bidder that barely holds up in the best of circumstances, and don't ask about the worst.

"Military grade" is right up there with "Airplane grade" Aluminum.

We're supposed to not question the integrity or strength of something just because some slick assed marketing punk gave it a fake name? BS.

Ever seen a knife with "Surgical grade steel" at a gun show for $9.99? Yeah, me too. Guess what, it's not made of the same steel in your doctors scalpel, retracter or clamp.

Just more slick, punk-ass marketing by some dweeb named Sheldon.

Sheldon works for Ford this year.
Next year it'll be "Space grade skillets".

I've got a 2013 1500 hemi QC as my first truck brand new have 90k miles on it. My previous car was an 07 Altima and I didn't know anything about trucks when I bought the ram. Didn't want ford's eco boost, nor liked the looks. Never test drive any other truck besides the ram. I bough ram because I liked the idea of a big simple hemi which produced raw power without any turbo bs

Had lots of issues with it during the first 4 years of ownership, everything you can think of: manifold bolts 4 times, head replaced, lifters, but been lucky enough in the past year not to have any issues so far. If I can imagine that I didn't go through hell with my truck, then I do love it, but I'll always have the bad days in my memory when I was out of truck for month and two months dealing with ****** dealer service.

My hope is that everything weak already broke and was repaired, and God will bless me with trouble free ownership of my truck for the next 5 years.

I don't know yet whether I'll buy another ram truck or not. So far no, but if my truck serves me another 5 years without major issues then I'll buy another one. If I had to buy another truck tomorrow, it would probably be Tundra.

I'm surprised to see many of you buy new trucks every few years. My 5 year old truck drives pretty much like new and I have no desire to get a new truck. I think I'll be disappointed to change this truck for new one as it'll be exactly the same, while I'll be doing payments again.
