What, if anything, changed with the quad headlights between '11 and '16??

I had a chance to drive a brand new Ram 1500 tonight for a while, just rolled over 5k while I was doing it. It was a rental, didn't have as many options as mine (no fog lights, small basic touchscreen, no stereo controls on wheel, cloth seats with no heat/air, etc), but it has the same quad headlights that my fully loaded '11 Sport has. The headlights on it worked ridiculously good for Dodge lights! I couldn't believe it when I first hit the high beams. I hardly use the high beams on mine because the low beams + fogs work better, I can hardly notice the difference between low and high when my fogs are off. Mine look like new, no scratches or clouding or anything, but they are like 2 pissholes in the snow compared to these ones I drove tonight.

So what changed? It was a brand new rental, so I doubt they touched them to add better bulbs, but I honestly have no idea. I want to add the 13+ projectors but until I find a decently priced set, maybe I'll look for newer quads. Did they switch to a single connector also, like the projectors, or are they a straight swap? I'd spring for better bulbs if I thought they'd work as good as those ones.

Racefan, they did update a few things when the 13 models came out. The quad lights, while they look the same (close) to your 11, the internals are a bit different. They changed the shape and design of the reflector bowls, low and high beam, which (if I remember correctly from the '13 model year update data) - gave 25-30% more output than the older 09-12 Quads. The front bezel is slightly different too, but this has nothing to do with optics - they had to widen the "sail" next to the amber reflector to match the updated low beam headlight bowl behind it.

We also carry the new 15+ Quads in black, if you are thinking of adding those to your truck - we have those here on our website - https://shop.retroshop.us/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=OEM.BLK.QD

Wiring on these, absolutely the same. Quad for quad, no differences there.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the info, that's what I was looking for! I almost had a set of projectors a couple months ago and I was a click away from ordering your adapter to install them in my truck, but the deal fell through unfortunately. I might just try some better bulbs for now until I can afford new headlights but I will let you know if/when I decide to go that route. Thanks again!
