I want to black out the front of my Laramie Ram but am having trouble finding a replacement insert (premiered black lower bumper insert). I did find one at autopartswharehouse, but it too is chrome and i don't want to have to spend all day sanding and prepping, nor do I want to spend $400 on a new bumper cover. Anyone know where i can pick one up ready for paint? Somebody has to have one.........

Get a few cans of PD and go to town. No real prep other than cleaning them prior.

you can not get that piece primed to paint. That piece is specific to the Laramie and it is chrome. On the 06-08 sport bumper that piece is not there at all.

I was contemplating using Plasti-Dip too, but I want everything to blend well in down front (not have a flat dull finish stick out). Besides I have OCD and that might be the death of me. If I painted it with adhesive, primer and paint to match what would the prep work be? just skuff it with a wet sand, or take it all the way down to the plastic base?

I think all you have to do is wipe it with a wax/oil cleaner to get all the contaminants out and then spray some adhesion promoter and then go to town. Is it plastic or metal? That would tell you what your prep work would be

Get some PD Glossifier and spray it over the PD layer to get glossy.
