What is this?

Took my truck in to get the airbag recall performed. When I got it back this piece in the pics was hanging out beneath the dash. When I asked the dealership what this was and why was it now dangling and they didn't have an answer. They said they didn't mess with this part while doing the recall.

What is this thing? Should I be concerned that it's not connected?

Only suggestion - extend the wire out and see what could connect to it in that radius.

I believe that's the transmission shift cable interlock solenoid. It'll go up somewhere on the cable assembly probably closer to the steering column.

Is it possibly the sensor for if your parking brake is set? Looks like some sort of rotational sensor? Try starting the truck and see if a warning light comes on?

I'd take it back, tell 'em it wasn't hanging down below the dash when you brought in the truck and that they better make this right. Give 'em hell 'cause that is total BS.

I don't want to take mine in for the passenger side airbag recall because all my speaker wire and my crossovers are behind it

Yeah, my parking brake and ABS light are constantly on now but they didn't start coming on until a few months after the airbag work. Ironically, I had the dealership sort out my brake/ABS light problem in the past. Looks like it's rearing its ugly head again.

Nope, no satellite radio in the truck. Just standard an after market stereo.
