Thinking bout getting a cummins and giving the wife the 1500. What size lift and tires are everybody running? What's OK to run without having to mod too much?

I'm missing 2 cylinders
Depends how big you want this thing to be, my 2014 1500 on a 4.5 inch lift is smaller than my dads leveled 2500 on 35.6 inch tires

I'm picking up my cummins on a 6" and 37s tomorrow. I'll snap a pic of it beside my 1500 on a 6" and 37s with bilsteins maxed.

I know they are already bigger from the factory an I want 6" with 37 but I dunno how bad it is on all the joints an stuff an whether or not you need spacers. I just did 6" an 35 on my 1500 an needed spacers an it bogged it down a good bit.

That depends on your wheel. I had 35s on my 1500 with just bilsteins.

if u know u are going 35 and up u will want a cumins. if u go the 6.4 route and go to 37"s you will want to do gears " 456". post this in the hd thread. lots of guys with lifted hds there. Lift will prolly be bds.. personally I'd look at carli. you may prolly be happy with 35"s and a lvl. I had a 6 inch lifted 1/2 ton and I know for me all I need/ want is a lvl and 35"s

You can fit 35s under a stock 14 Cummins. 38s with Thuren fabrication leveling coils and the right offset wheel.
Then there is a 6.5" lift with 37s is what I did with -25 offset wheels that's in my sig.

And I think the 6.4 hemi hd comes with 373 or 410 gears from factory. The 2014 2500 Cummins comes with 342 gears from factory....smh

800 pounds of torque vrs 400.. that cumins is not gonna give a **** what size tire it has to push, even with a 342 gear. The Hemi how ever will. T Williams on here has a 6.4-lifted 6 inches -37"s, had stock 4:10"s .. had 456" installed and loved it. He's actually going down to a 35" as we speak. If u know u are gonna go 6" and 37"s, save ur self the disappointment that a gas motor would leave u with and buy the cumins.

^^ this. The premium to buy the cummins over the 6.4 will be a whole lot less when you have to gear swap the 6.4.

Plus the Cummins resale value is a lot greater than a gas 2500!

OP... i see you are in MS... if you dont drive much, and I assume their arent any huge hills in your area, you MIGHT be ok with a 6.4 truck.

If you run 37s on either motor, you are going to want to regear (assuming 3.42s). Above ~50 mph, both trucks are going to be hunting gears. Below 50, the diesel will be OK and the gas will be a **** lol.

gasser.. you bought a 12 right? 3.73 gears on 37s?
