I just bought a 2020 Laramie 5.7 etorque off road group, 92 k/mi.
On cold start I get an intermittent steam whistle sound. Preliminary walk around reveals it seems to be coming from underneath, somewhere between the rear of the engine bay and front of the cab. It's not a belt squeal and it's not the typical bearing buzz.
This is more of a stream lunch break whistle sound. It's not constant. It ramps up, peaks and wanes over only a few seconds. But does this a few times and even does it while I'm driving until it gets closer to fully warmed up. It doesn't appear speed related as it doesn't change pitch or volume with increased speed. But again, it's not constant, it's intermittent with completely random timing.
I've read the threads about the idler and tensioning pulleys and torque motor bearings, different sound. No buzz or growl.
I'd even though vacuum leak whistle but it doesn't display any vacuum leak running characteristics either.
Any thoughts?
