I just had my tires rotated and I have the wheel locks on them and when I got home and looked at my tires it looks like the wheel locks are sticking out too far! They're out past all the other lug nuts! Didn't notice this before! Is this right? Can someone post a pic of a tire with the wheel lock on? Thanks!

How about you post a picture of your wheels and we'll tell ya what we think....

I'd say as long as they're tight...should be ok.

My stock wheel locks stick out slightly further then the lug nuts. You could always take the lock out and take it off and back on too.

Mine did too. I took them off, didn't really like how they looked on there.

I would get rid of them....I have the dealer take them off...they could be aggravating if changing a tire

Should be able to upload it in your profile.I.think that's how I did it. If you have black wheels on that truck, it may not let you add it. LOL

They will stick out slightly more than the regular lug nuts. If you have stock wheels then I'd remove them all together. Nobody really steals stock wheels anymore.

About once a week the Detroit news does a segment on a neighborhood that has had several vehicles left on blocks. When they show the cars they all look stock and aren't the kind of cars that are typically going to have custom wheels like mini vans big suvs, and new lincolns. Detroit craigslist is full of like new stock tire and wheel sets. I live in the suburbs and park inside so no wheel locks for me. As already stated, they can be a pain on the side of the road in the dark.

Yeaaa.....I gave up on wheel locks years ago....couple reasons.

I might be ass backwards but I feel if someone goes out of the way to steal my wheels, maybe they need them more than me.

Then...they're a pita. I've gone to have work done and the dealer/mechanic couldn't find the lock key. Fml

Also if they get stolen...it gives me a chance to get new wheels!

As I recall the lock stuck out further but mine were on my truck about 2 hrs as I had black ones waiting to be swapped on!

You can buy shorter ones but may not be worth the extra money

Not sure if it will help, but here's a couple pics of my wheel with factory lock.

A shot from when I was removing an original locking lug from the truck as the OP had lost the key. A very visible difference in length.

And yes, I did put new OEM locks back on. I just bought a second key.
